@cheddachaz@just_adavis You trade players at peak value when not competing to accumulate draft picks for more bites at the apple. OKC/HOU/SAS stacked picks to facilitate team building.
A rebuild doesn’t have to mean losing for 4+ years. Short sighted win now mindset will drive fans away too.
@just_adavis We’re bad already. It makes no sense to keep everyone and just to be less bad when you can acquire draft assets which is the primary way a small market bad team can get better. No one is saying tank. They want to take peak value for players from a roster that can’t compete.
@ChaseMcRaw Fact #1 - while the city owns the building and the Blazers are technically tenants, they don’t pay rent and the city doesn’t get revenues from the building.
Fact #2 - in the sale agreement from Blazers to City, they agreed to split operating costs for Moda center
@amitisinvesting All the hyperscalers have to do is say that they are re-evaluating capex spend and all of the bottle neck trades get blown up.
Nvidia will lobby hard for them not to do that, but if memory stays out of control, it will happen.
@Kyr504 The org has 2 main goals in conflict with each other.
1. Build a contender around Fears/DQ
2. Don’t lose, compete now for play-in
1 requires a rebuild and maximizing draft assets.
2 requires keeping the vets and spending draft assets.
Try for both, fail at both.
@TX4LIFE01@FOS There is no scenario where he would be willing to split costs. He could pay no taxes and he would be saying that the economic benefit to the city far exceeds the cost of renovations.
@CouchsideIQ@FearTheBrown Pels were 11th of 15 with the same roster last season when heavy tanking existed. They would be in that 12-14 range with the roster today if teams aren’t tanking.
