The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media.
I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.
Top reader upvoted NYT comments on the Colorado's ban on gender identity conversion therapy innocently reply with the normal common sense and humanity that gender doctors, trans activists and allies, lawyers, and Democratic party officials and politicians at every level of government spent a decade working tirelessly to subvert, sabotage, and replace with cult-like adherence to chemically castrating and dismembering children as the only way to help them be their authentic selves
Unchecked extreme rhetoric, like labels as Hitler or fascist, will foment more extreme outcomes.
Political violence is always wrong—no exceptions.
We must all turn the temperature down.
You're right. It's that simple. They're not real girls.
Orwell said: 'freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.'
Politicians too scared to state out loud that males have a physical advantage cannot defend women's rights.
France is one of the world's oldest democracies; it's now in grave danger. A court has convicted the presidential front-runner, a populist nationalist. A court alleges she misallocated staff time. But a court acquitted the Prime Minister, charged with the same crime, last year.
Insulting someone is not a crime, and criminalizing speech is going to put real strain on European-US relationships.
This is Orwellian, and everyone in Europe and the US must reject this lunacy.
@mehdirhasan Yes dummy. I think there’s a difference between not giving a reporter a seat in the WH press briefing room and jailing people for dissenting views. The latter is a threat to free speech, the former is not. Hope that helps!
A new report from the American Principles Project found the U.S. Department of Education under President Joe Biden has disproportionally penalized Christian and vocational institutions.

The current round of transgender mania began with the cancellation of the psychologist Michael Bailey for writing a popular book describing the clinical literature on autogynephilia in 2003. It was in fact a very kindly, even somewhat indulgent, portrayal of the men with this paraphilia that argued that under certain circumstances medical transition was justified to facilitate allowing these men to live their paraphilia full time.
But the movement saw a prohibition on the discussion of the sexual arousal core to this form of transgender identification as key to their publicity campaign and pioneered the tactics of reputational destruction that they would deploy again and again to startling effect in controlling the narrative against Bailey. By virtue of this act of reputational destruction, they succeeded in imposing a taboo on the discussion of AGP and propagating the falsehood that the clinical literature on AGP had been "debunked" rather than "canceled." It was on the basis of this prohibition that myths of "transgender children" came to flourish.
But just on the cusp of a total victory for "trans inclusion," this knowledge is now being placed in wide circulation once again. The genie is out of the bottle at a vastly larger scale than ever before.
Of course, during all those years when trans activists falsely claimed that AGP had been "debunked," it remained in constant circulation in the writings and utterances of major transgender writers and influencers, including the Pulitzer Prize winning critic and essayist Andrea Long Chu quoted here alongside other leading trans-identified male AGP's.
Dear John Oliver,
If sex doesn’t matter in sports, please direct me to the lengthy list of women on the starting lineup of any NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL team.
Explain why it is that we need a women’s soccer division at all.
Remember when Megan Rapinoe’s world championship team lost to a group of high school boys? Why do you think this might be?
Why didn’t Katie Ledecky swim in the same 400IM heats as Michael Phelps?
How would Flo Jo have fared against Ussain Bolt?
Don’t be daft. You’re not this stupid. Identities don’t play sports; bodies play sports, and male bodies have physiological advantages.
You’re peddling misogyny, not progress. #SaveWomensSports
… was demonized. Only “permitted position” behavior and speech was “allowed.” Complete intolerance became almost a religion and one’s professional and social life was threatened almost constantly. Those that spoke otherwise were ruined as a warning to others.Their destruction 4/
I’ve never in my life known that to be an American environment. It’s an environment I have encountered in smaller groupings (a church, a private club,a clique), but never before as a national blanket. It has been suffocating. Common sense was discarded, intellectual discussion 3/
@mattyglesias A group of public health "experts" successfully urged Pfizer to delay reporting their results until after the election. A bit of an underreported story.
Democrats have lost their footing with mainstream Americans by pushing too far on cultural issues. Most Americans believe that allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports crosses a line — and is unfair to the girls who pour their heart and soul into training, only to lose out to biological boys. This sentiment isn’t partisan; it’s common sense.
