@SportsTalkMiss Maybe this. Look at the incompetence of John Cohen in NIL and Fundraising. Jeff Lebby could make better decisions but he accepted a pitiful situation.

@bsrippee Well, ignoring NIL like Cohen did and hoping it would go away is the real killer. While we have made progress with NIL in addition to Selmon’s impressive fundraising results, we are still significantly behind most schools in the SEC. Due to timing, Lebby is paying the price.
@DearOleState John Cohen gets 100% of blame. Ask Google AI for a comparison of fundraising under Cohen and Selmon. You will immediately understand how pathetic Cohen was at planning, fundraising and NIl. Amazing to me Lebby was able to get coaches he did with lack of talent he was left.
@DearOleState Lebby has had two classes, this one is not finished and a commitment means nothing. This issue goes back before 2022 when Leach and Morehead wanted to recruit out of state kids and turned their back on MS high schoolers. It will take more than 2 or 3 years to build back.
@bobounds BS! Lack of recruiting by Morehead, Leach and no significant NIL compared to others, led to only had a few decent players and absolutely no depth. Bad decisions, sure, happens to all coaches. He started with absolutely zero talent which impacted coaching hires and games.
@bobounds Well if you make that argument, every school in the country uses them. Think about this, how good was the defense Morehead inherited and what did he do with it? Nothing! When was the last big time D lineman State had? Simmons under Morehead. None since! What happened?
@bobounds You think there was a level playing field. Because of Cohen’s laziness and stupidity, he was years behind teams like OM who opened the vault and had an established coach who embraced NIL. MSU couldn’t spell it till Selmon got there. You’re judging on 2 years in a new era.
@bobounds@Whiskey_61@ScoutSteveR Only thing that will allow Jeff to succeed is distance (time) away from the horrible decisions of John Cohen. Joe Morehead and his lack of engagement with NIL, it is amazing MSU has a football team at all. Those two decisions and an untimely passion of Mike Leach are the cause.
