Every year, I make breakfast for the custodians at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Spruce Grove. This year's was another wonderful meal with good friends... and the last because I retired at the end of June. Bittersweet! Thanks for all your hard work and your friendship.
They came today to make the pickup of our Thanksgiving food donation. The students carried ours to the office. Thanks Gr.5R families for your generous donation. #generosity#FruitoftheSpirit@STA_ECSRD@EvergreenCSSD
So thankful. Thanks to the generosity of Gr. 5R students and their families, we've collected three boxes of food for those who are less fortunate. What a wonderful example of #generosity from the #SharingtheFruitoftheSpirit. @STA_ECSRD@EvergreenCSSD Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks to @STA_ECSRD Parent Council who has given the elementary classes new color-coded bags of playground equipment. The students LOVE LOVE LOVE them and use the variety of playround equipment every day. @EvergreenCSSD
Today we spent some time in our outdoor classroom honoring the Indigenous and how they took care of their environment. We also stopped at the flower bed for Blessed Kateri, then did a outdoor classroom cleanup when we were done. Wonderful space! @STA_ECSRD@EvergreenCSSD
Pale Blue Dot is a photo of Earth that was taken by the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990 from a distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) as it was leaving our solar system. This is what Carl Sagan said about the photo:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
Today was the last day of school for the holiday season. Each Gr. 5R student received a nativity scene tree decoration. Wishing you a HAPPY and HOLY Christmas. @STA_ECSRD@EvergreenCSSD
Today we lit the 4th candle for Advent and are counting the days to Christmas. With Christmas on a Sunday, this is the longest season of Advent possible. More time to share the love of the season. @STA_ECSRD
Today is the 1st Sunday of Advent. Tomorrow, we'll put out the Nativity scene at school and start counting down the days until Christmas. I have the Advent calendar ready. @STA_ECSRD@EvergreenCSSD
We are excited to announce @STAthunder has been invited by the @EdmontonOilers Hockey Group to participate in their School Spirit Nights program this year. See attached image for more details! Go Oilers Go! 💙🧡
My T&R day will include thoughtful reflection about Canada's history as we move forward with truth and #Reconciliation. Thoughts and prayers to residential school survivors.
Thank you to Melanie Lizotte, Indigenous Community Relations Manager at Somerville Co. Limited and former student Kennedy McCann for their generous donation of books. Grateful to you for sharing your commitment to #Reconciliation with our staff and students @LesburgKatelyn
