A nice night for a hike, the rain held off even if it was a but muddy in places. The Scouts showed some great map reading skills to get us back to the den on time.
Tonight we challenge each patrol to make 3 different cakes. Helping them develop organising, leadership and teamwork skills. Here are some of the results, the chocolate crispies seemed to magically disappear.
Remarkably proud that Matthew Taylor @DurhamCityScout Executive Committee member, @5thDurham Cub Scout Assistant Leader and @durhamscouts Scout Network member will be supporting the Lying in State for our late Patron HM The Queen at Westminster next week. @scouts
We’re deeply saddened by the death of Our Patron, HM The Queen. A dedicated supporter of Scouts, Her Majesty has been a peerless role model for our young people.
Our thoughts are with the Royal Family.

Did you know that 11 of the 12 people who've walked on the Moon were Scouts? Or that in 2020 UK Scouts hiked to the Moon (and back!) to raise funds for Children in Need?

Just back from an amazing week in Northumberland camping with @5thDurham and Chalmers ESU.
We've walked, baked, been in the sea and sung around the campfire!

Great to see supporter and former Group Leader of @5thDurham (and District lead for Durham City) continuing to support the Group with a day visit to Northumberland for Scout and Explorer camp. @DurhamCityScout
Great to see @5thDurham @Scouts out and about exploring the Northumberland countryside as part of their camp with support from volunteers from other groups from @durhamscouts developing #skillsforlife
The Scouts spent the night learning how to cook on light weight stoves (Trangias). The menu was either sun dried tomato or carbonara pasta, the favourite among the Scouts was sun dried tomato.
A good walk up Roseberry Topping, then to Captain Cooks memorial. We took our time to practice some different navigation techniques, so not many pictures. Thank you to @jaynegibson45 and @sharonvaseyblu1 for supporting us and all the parents for transport.
