You Are Never the Same River Twice

🌊 On this National Forgiveness Day, a story from the Buddha that still hits deep:🔥

A man, burning with anger, spat in the Buddha’s face. Buddha simply wiped it away and asked gently, “What next?” — a living echo of “turn the other cheek.”

The next day the man returned, ashamed, begging forgiveness.
Buddha replied: “I cannot forgive you… because I am no longer the same man you spat on. The river has flowed on. And you are no longer the same man who spat. The Ganges is never the same Ganges twice.”

Forgiveness isn’t always a grand act of letting someone “off the hook.” Sometimes it’s simply seeing that in the present moment, we’ve both changed. The grudge has no one left to hold it.

Jesus invited this radical heart when He said forgive “seventy times seven”, not keeping score, but stepping into the flow where the old passes away. As Scripture echoes:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

We get to renew daily. The Kingdom within flows freer when we let go and let the river carry what no longer serves.
