2/2 NYPD have a term for what they do, “testifying.” They lie because they feel the people are criminals and deserve to be in jail and why should they walk free because of the law? There are good cops but the lying is systemic.

As a former public defender with Legal Aid in Bronx, N.Y., (I am now retired) I can confirm what Ms. Wang has said. Cops will routinely lie to justify an illegal stop and search and unless the evidence of their lying is overwhelming, judges tend to trust them. In the Bronx, 1/2
