@jsam_1967 So nice to hear. We do get a bad wrap & it does take teamwork & a multidisciplinary approach to achieve good outcomes....just as it does working in other healthcare settings. Well done to all. ๐๐ป
@AileenCollier15@drleeroyw @GregHuntMP @drol007 ...easy to become cynical when out of the #agedcareRC, so far, copious more documenting/report-writing & no time for direct care. Haven't seen any additional funds for more #lifestyle staff, #allied health where it's needed.
AJDC is pleased to be a Supporting Partner for the upcoming National Dementia & Aged Care Reform Conference. Topics include 'Quality dementia care: what it looks like and how to measure it'.
Are others noticing an increase in 'incidents' of close contact/intimate contact between #agedcare residents as well as an increase in aggression since they've been locked up for nearly two years!? Just wondering. ๐ค
@jsam_1967 Several yrs ago, I was reviewing an ACP with a son & his mum who had advanced Alzheimer's. When asked if she would want CPR if her heart suddenly stopped, son said 'yes, of course!' Mum became visibly distressed. Short story, mum did not want CPR!
End of #MelbourneLockdown day 1: a friend came over to visit (and consume many many choc chip cookies) and I had to hold in the tears. He asked me how I was doing & then the tears fell. Itโs like I just released a big anxious breath I didnโt know I was holding. #MelbourneUnlocked
I am so sick of seeing โdementiaโ in a diagnosis list and that person being denied choice and opportunity to make decisions, so they are bypassed and family member contacted about every little thing.
