We’re not all living in the same Canada.

Two people can stand on the same street, pay the same taxes, watch the same headlines, and live in different realities. One sees a country worth building. The other sees a machine that eats effort and rewards compliance.

Both feel true, because reality is not just facts. It is what your nervous system believes is safe, possible, and worth doing.

Here is the part nobody says out loud. You are not a “citizen” first. You are a complicated pattern of energy walking around in a body. Attention, emotion, memory, belief. You are always scanning for meaning and always seeking resonance. People, places, ideas that feel real.

That is not spiritual fluff. That is survival.

When you feel like “it’s all pointless,” that is not wisdom. That is learned helplessness dressed up as intelligence. And it spreads.

Because the system does not need you convinced of a lie. It only needs you convinced that truth does not matter and action will not change anything. Once you believe that, you stop creating. You stop organizing. You stop insisting. You pay, you shrug, you cope.

That is the real tax.

People talk about positive energy like it is the solution. It isn’t. Positive and negative have the same power. They are directions, not destinations. What matters is coherence. Does your inner signal match what you say you value?

Love is not a mood. Love is alignment. Protecting what is real. Naming what is false. Building what is missing.

Now the cultural kill shot we’re living through: we have been gaslit into confusing coexistence with surrender. As if peace means pretending contradictions do not exist. As if unity means never saying no. As if being Canadian means keeping your voice calm while your life gets smaller.

That does not create harmony. It creates a neutralized culture. A population trained to self edit until nothing true can be said clearly.

And that neutralization has the same death coefficient as open conflict. It kills trust. It kills community. It kills initiative. It kills the future, politely.

If you feel trapped, the exit is not rage and it is not forced optimism. It is responsibility.

Speak more plainly than you are “allowed” to. Organize locally, not emotionally. Demand receipts, not narratives. Pick one lever you can pull and pull it every week. Become the kind of person the system cannot hypnotize. Calm, informed, stubborn.

Hopelessness is not realism. It is surrender.

A culture returns when enough people refuse to live inside unreality.

This is what makes (ruling in) Canada great, we can give you back a fraction of your own after tax tax money so you can buy Kraft Dinner.

In an unprecedented move, Mayor Chow and 17 councillors voted to download costs associated with legal fees to taxpayers.

This move comes in context of pending litigation against the City, Councillor Amber Morley, and consultant Bruce Davis of Public Progress for what many deem to be a flawed and potentially corrupt public consultation about a placement of a harm reduction shelter. Even the City’s chief solicitor was visibly uncomfortable with the proposal.

Only three councillors voted NO: Bradford, Holyday, and Perruzza.

In a weird twist, Bravo went on a rant about “people making videos” - an obvious shot at IntegrityTO for our efforts to expose the declining quality of life in her Davenport ward.

@GSawision @integrity_to Seen #Mississauga City Council doing the same. Or they don't even look up from their phone. Not all of them though. @carolynhparrish and @DipikaDamerla don't do that. They tend to be more attentive.

But complaints do require a response and Commissioner has to make an annual report about number of complaints. Arrgh. Frustrating.
