The sharpest exchange was on traffic. Operators sit on a thin margin between investment and rising demand, with AI's effect still unknown. The counter: value matters more than volume, and each new generation has to feel genuinely different or customers feel let down.

Final panel of the week, chaired by Marja Matinmikko-Blue: what business models will sustainability bring to 6G? The recurring worry from the floor: industry still leads with technology, then hunts for a use. Panellists argued sustainability should shape design from the outset.
Regulation came up as both burden and lever. The AI Act, energy rules and digital product passports add reporting work, but panellists saw them as a foundation new 6G business could be built on.

What is inside the box?
Ankit Regmi shows radio tomography on our stand: a 300 GHz link and a camera image a hidden object from the way it blocks the signal. Integrated sensing and communication, in practice.

6G has plenty of theory. What it needs now is proof that the theory survives contact with the real world. Read the article and join us in the sessions tomorrow, the last day of #EuCNC and #6GSummit 2026 edition!

Her thesis: most network planning still optimises for cost. Mas-Machuca wants robustness treated as a metric in its own right, with trusted-node placement, multi-vendor diversity and QKD designed in from the start. #EuCNC2026#6Gsummit
Carmen Mas-Machuca opened Thursday with a shift in framing: telecom networks are now critical infrastructure. That means planning can no longer chase capacity alone. Security and resilience have to sit at the centre. #EuCNC2026#6Gsummit
Then there are the cables. Undersea cables carry more than 99% of international internet traffic, which makes them both vital and a target. Resilience planning now has to weigh deliberate attacks, not only accidents and weather.
