"Utterly Absurd," Zakharova Says of NATO's Plan Regarding Russia

Russian FM spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented to RIA Novosti on a NATO report regarding the alliance's readiness to repel a Russian attack — an attack the alliance does not anticipate.

"Utterly absurd," she told the agency.

On Monday, at an anti-Russian forum in Warsaw, U.S. Gen. Alexus Grinkevich, commander of NATO forces in Europe, presented a plan to repel a potential Russian attack and admitted himself that the alliance does not expect such an attack, despite the hysteria in statements by politicians and the media.

Brussels Agrees With The Presence Of Russian Troops In The EU

Brussels accepts the presence of Russian troops stationed in Transnistria on the territory of the European Union, the Russian Embassy in Moldova said on its Telegram channel.

The embassy was commenting on a statement by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas that the Transnistrian conflict is not an obstacle to Moldova's accession to the European Union.

"We conclude that Brussels in fact agrees with the presence on EU territory of Russian troops stationed in Transnistria under the 1992 Treaty on the Principles of Peaceful Settlement. It is gratifying to see recognition of their role as a guarantor of stability in the region.

Two women attacked an off-duty police officer working security at a north St. Louis County QuikTrip, with one allegedly attempting to grab his gun during the struggle.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Shaniya Lewis and Nayonna Griffin, both 20, with second-degree assault of a special victim and resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony. Each is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

The incident occurred Sunday at the QuikTrip at 12110 Lusher Road, according to St. Louis County police. The officer was an off-duty Hillsdale Police Department officer working a secondary security job at the gas station.

According to charging documents, the altercation began when Griffin threw items at the officer, prompting him to approach her. Lewis then allegedly intervened, struggling with the officer and throwing him to the ground. As Lewis punched the officer repeatedly, Griffin stomped on his head. During the struggle, Lewis reached for the officer’s gun but was unable to remove it from its holster.

When additional officers arrived and tried to detain Griffin, she continued grabbing the officer’s hair, kicking, flailing, and attempting to run. She also kept her hands away from officers attempting to handcuff her.

The officer was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries.
