There are many uncertainties that come with running a RPG. They are there every time a GM comes to the table. The experience in knowing how to deal with those uncertainties is the only difference between a new and a seasoned GM. Know the game will go on if you fail.
The old proverb "Don't split the party" is put the test as Mikel and Scott challenge the old adage. It's a deep dive into why each host consider it a great tool to use at the table. There's no doubt that they love to have splits in the party.
This week we discuss the GM's role in games. GMs act as a moderator to drive a story, create the tension, manage the chaos, and as a decider in conflicting situations. As a player the GM is the world, the NPCs, a city, everything the players interact with.
This week we discuss how NPCs play a big role in striking the right balance between creating a shared narrative and maintaining enjoyment as a GM, used to tell their story and introduce their world, and also are the playersโ connection into the world.
