How did we get here? The only thread you need to read on the current state of @NDFootball: πππ
First, the email. Just for kicks, let's take Jack at his word and assume the buyout was immaterial:

First, the email. Just for kicks, let's take Jack at his word and assume the buyout was immaterial:
Nobody in this orbit has watched more WVU football than I have over the past 30 years (don't ask). Before their jump to the B12, WVU relied on a power rushing attack and always had a stud back (sound familiar?).
The unfortunate reality is only if you include some guy named Matt Moore (neither the pitcher nor QB), Jack just hired the 2nd worst OC WVU has had in 30 years.
Here's my grave concern: I had to rack my brain to think of a worse OC than Parker. At WVU. In 30 years.
I'm aware of the whole Neal Brown/Parker play calling dynamic. Doege was bad, Brown himself is bad, I get it. Make all the excuses you want, the results are irrefutable.
Ludwig was my top choice even before the cards were turned over:
1) Balanced offense w/ creative run schemes
2) Major bowl victory
3) Won a shootout w/ our rival then emasculated them @ end of 2nd game
4) 40+ vs Ohio State w/ inferior talent
Clear evidence of his capability...
ND should be in the business of hiring the best tacticians (Mason, Lea) to make up ground lost to helicopter recruiting and Mickey D's baggies.
Ludwig is the His'n Your'n type we (continue to) lack. GP will need to get religion quick.
GP does not begin to approach any of that. One would hope he will exceed Rees '22 w/ better personnel (minus TE). Realistically I see the following:
Floor: Molnar
Ceiling: Chip Long
Long was decent, but not good enough. A Molnar-tier result will torpedo MF's career.
Kudos, miamioh_irishfan. 20+ year lurker. If I joined I'd never get anything done (was on here too often so I took last season off). And as always, kudos to Navy.
@Corey4_ND @NDFootball Decided to sit back last year and withhold judgement for MF in his 1st season. After all, we were finally free of BK. Unfortunately the Hydra has many heads.
See, Jack's been around elite coaches as long as Brian Kelly has been a head coach. He's an extra special kind of ND alum because he went to a top-tier aspirational peer law school. He knows people. He's Savvy. You...are unremarkable.

Jack simulated the Ludwig/Parker point differential as a function of cash and determined: 1) ND will lose at home to tOSU anyway 2) beat Clemson last year with basically the same staff and 3) will have a better chance of keeping up with SC now that DP is in Tempe.
