Speaking of doublespeak, hearing Reps that shout about “freedom”, and claim any government infringement on choices are “socialism,” now trying to limit freedom of patients to choose where to get their basic medical treatments like pap smears, or which birth control they can use.
Today, the MO GOP gave a middle finger to voters, and to the Constitution. If our legislators now believe they don’t have to follow the will of voters, the constitution, or the courts, we can say goodbye to our Constitutional Republic and our democracy. https://t.co/YvNkHkkKUE
There is a dangerous and harmful rumor that our office and SLMPD are disbanding the Domestic Abuse Response Team. This is not true.
Domestic abuse services are essential, which is why our proposed FY22 budget increases victim support by an additional $1mil.
Thank you @SLMPD.
I heard @TonyForMissouri say he represents his own constituents not the whole state, and Buchanan County voted against Expansion. Does he know his *district* voted FOR it? Also, our oath is to the state Constitution, not just our voters. #FullyFundMedicaid https://t.co/FNcLHaADj7
Toured the city’s jails yesterday. There, I spoke with a man that’s been held in pretrial detention since he was 18, he’s 22 now. Literally grew up in jail and still haven’t been convicted of crime. Thread. (1/3)
Our hearts are heavy over yet another shooting of a Black man, Daunte Wright, at the hands of police. It’s important to conduct a full and transparent investigation, but this is also a reminder of just how badly we need to reimagine policing and public safety in this country.
Even as we’ve battled the pandemic, we’ve continued to neglect the longer-lasting epidemic of gun violence in America. Although the shooter’s motive is not yet clear, the identity of the victims underscores an alarming rise in anti-Asian violence that must end.
I sure didn’t dream I’d have Giuliani telling me to “calm down” tonight. But I did appreciate the chance to call him out directly on his extremely dangerous spreading of propaganda and lies undermining our democracy. 2020, eh? 🤷🏼♂️
This week, I went inside an ICU in St. Louis, Missouri.
When I asked one of the ICU nurses how many patients she’s lost since the pandemic began, she couldn’t even ballpark a number.
She said some days it’s 3 or 4 a shift.
Today we take a moment to remember the lives lost due to transphobia. Tonight at 7 pm, several organizations around the St. Louis area, including @STLMetroTrans, are hosting a virtual vigil to honor transgender lives. Watch here → https://t.co/DDIo09EFO8
Please act like this is late March 2020 and we are shut down.
Wear a mask.
Stay 6 feet apart.
Was your hands frequently.
Don’t visit the elderly or immune compromised.
Order takeout/delivery from local restaurants.
Only leave the house if it’s absolutely necessary.
