724 - Bill Sampen

Sampen pitched 5 years for 3 teams. His best was his rookie year in Montreal where despite only starting 4 games, led the team with 12 wins, and had a 2.99 ERA. He’s the only player to be drafted from MacMurray College. He grew up in Emden, Illinois.

705 - Tim Leary

The Mets chose Leary 2nd in ‘79 after Al Chambers, then traded him to the Brewers where he had his best WAR 3.6 in ‘86, but ‘88 with the Dodgers was his best. He was then traded to the Reds, then to the Yankees where Leary lost a league leading 19 games in ‘90.

702 - Rookie Threats

Delino DeShields, Marquis Grissom, and Larry Walker were all rookies in ‘90. A rule change that year helped Grissom and Walker who each played a few games in ‘89. They all received NL Rookie of the Year votes, with DeShields 2nd behind David Justice.

I have a couple of lumps on my neck, on the right lymph node.
The doctor said it may be lymphoma and I had a needle stuck into my neck yesterday to extract a tissue sample so they can determine if I have cancer.
I trust God but it is kind of scary. I’ve been healthy my entire life

I’m pretty much going through this alone. I’m single and in a small new town. My mom has dementia so she really can’t process what’s going on.
