Yesterday, I passed out 106 senior security officers who successfully completed the Advanced Joint Senior Political Education and Leadership Development Course. I urged them to remain ideologically grounded, uphold patriotism and Pan-Africanism, and lead Ugandaβs socio-economic transformation with discipline, unity and strategic clarity.
I congratulate them and wish them good luck .

Government extends its deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, the King David Junior School community, and everyone affected by the tragic school bus accident in Kapchorwa.
Support has been mobilised for the injured, survivors, and bereaved families, while Government continues to coordinate emergency response efforts with relevant authorities.
As an immediate safety measure, all school trips and tours involving road travel have been suspended until further notice. Government is also implementing enhanced school transport safety measures to strengthen vehicle inspections, enforce compliance, and safeguard the lives of learners.
We call upon all Ugandans to keep the affected families in their thoughts and prayers as we work together to prevent such tragedies in the future.

This morning, the IGP chaired a strategic security meeting of all RPCs, RCIDβs, RCIβs and DPCs in preparation for the upcoming local council elections and also to draw strategies to fight rural and agricultural related thefts.
He guided commanders to draw lessons from the Jan 2026 general elections and ensure the local councils are conducted in a secure and peaceful environment
I made a presentation on strategies to combat rural crimes and called on commanders to ensure our response matches the scale of the problem so as to guarantee food security and support wealth creation programs like PDM
A team from the Uganda Police Force Inspectorate Department, led by Commissioner of Police Richard Ecega, has concluded a three-day inspection of sub-county police stations across the Sebei Sub-region.
The inspection assessed the implementation and impact of the sub-county policing model, with a focus on service delivery, operational effectiveness, and the accessibility of police services to the wanainchi.
CP Ecega urged officers to remain disciplined, vigilant, and accessible to the public, reminding them that they are ambassadors of the Inspector General of Police and must uphold the Force's professionalism and public trust.

Today at State House Entebbe, I met H.E. Pekka Haavisto, the United Nations Secretary-Generalβs Personal Envoy for Sudan. We discussed the conflict in Sudan and the wider region.
I reiterated that many of these crises stem from ideological mistakes and the failure to respect the identities of people in multinational states. Sustainable peace can only come through dialogue, not force. I also reaffirmed Ugandaβs commitment to hosting refugees, who are our people and continue to contribute to our countryβs development.

Today Morning , I intercepted a school van transporting pupils under dangerously overcrowded conditions. This is a stark reminder of how road negligence threatens our most vulnerable.
Our children's safety is non-negotiable. I have called on traffic police to strictly enforce safety regulations and clamp down on school vehicle overloading.
To school proprietors, headteachers, and drivers: our children are not cargo. They are the future of Uganda. Take full responsibility for their safety. No convenience is worth a childβs life. Letβs choose safety, always.
