@johnny_morgan@amywelborn2 You need to listen to the Matt Dillon read audio book version of On The Road to really appreciate it. Like poetry, it’s meant to be read out loud.
@kenthecowboy_ Th closest Americanism I can think of to TPS or crab syndrome is when Marines tell recruits to stay of the skyline because that’s where you get shot, but that’s a very specific circumstance (military training) that is nearly incomprehensible in other settings.
@FlowbeeOperator@politicalmath Whether Mamdani is the cause or the beneficiary, having like-minded people in positions of power makes him more formidable.
@KeithMurphy Jack Trice and Hilton just jumped a couple spots in the “hardest places to play” category. Farmageddon under the lights? Big Monday against KU? Must watch tv.
@Chris_arnade Yes, regarding your point about influence in bad modern fiction, I got strong Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute vibes from Don Quixote. Not sure if that was intentional by the creative folks at The Office or just me connecting dots that don’t need to be connected.
@Chris_arnade Interesting. I don’t feel that way about Moby Dick (which I had no trouble finishing) but I could quote that as my review of Don Quixote. I’ve picked it up and put it down so many times you could say I’m tilting at windmills.
