i've started understanding why the prophet ﷺ made so many du'as about the heart. a sound heart can handle delays, forgive people, remain grateful, and keep turning back to Allah. so much of life becomes easier when the heart is at peace.

This “talking to husband about his mum” matter has opened my eyes to a whole next level of misogyny, pickmeism and parent-worship (as in a literal sense, far beyond the normal respect injunction) that exist in the north. Not saying it’s a northern thing, but it’s genuinely terrifying how more brazen and prevalent it is from what I’ve seen.
