SOWORE AT THE 1ST SIGNING OF THE 2027 NATIONAL PEACE ACCORD
18th August, 2026
Today, our Presidential Candidate, Comrade Omoyele Sowore, attended the first signing of the 2027 National Peace Accord in Abuja.
The event provided a remarkable display of Sowore’s growing political influence. Journalists, presidential candidates, delegates, security personnel, and even supporters of other political parties and candidates repeatedly gathered around him for photographs and to express their solidarity.
Before the commencement of the event, Sowore spoke to journalists and questioned the sincerity of the Peace Accord, recalling the tragic election-related violence in Osun State, where about 50 people were reportedly killed despite the existence of a similar Peace Accord.
He stressed that signing agreements means little without the political will to protect lives and conduct free fair and credible elections; as he went ahead to emphasize the reluctance of government towards the arrest and prosecution of everyone involved in the Osun election violence.
A particularly striking moment was watching prominent members of the APC, the National Assembly and the Executive jostle for an opportunity to interact with Sowore. Despite their attempts at familiarity, our candidate consistently reminded them of the hypocrisy of the political establishment and its failure to provide genuine leadership.
Although the Candidates of the APC and ADC were conspicuously absent, Sowore eventually participated in the formal signing of the Peace Accord, while making it clear that peace cannot be reduced to a ceremonial ritual, and that an absent Presidential candidate like Bola Tinubu is technically not bound to the Peace Accord, which of course he wasn't present to sign.
Today's event once again demonstrated the growing visibility and influence of our Presidential Candidate. Even within the corridors of power, there is a clear recognition that Omoyele Sowore represents a formidable challenge to the political establishment and remains a powerful voice for the Nigerian people.

PRESS RELEASE

N500,000 MINIMUM WAGE: AAC’S VISION VINDICATED
The African Action Congress (AAC) welcomes the recent demand by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other Left-wing groups in the country for a ₦500,000 minimum wage, a demand that reinforces what the AAC Party has consistently advocated: that Nigerian workers deserve a living wage, not a slave wage.
Long before the current renewed debate, our presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore had proposed a ₦500,000 minimum wage for workers. The same demand featured prominently among the demands of the August 5 #RevolutionNow protest organised by the Take It Back Movement.
The fact that this demand has now become a major part of the national labour conversation demonstrates that the issues championed by the AAC and the wider revolutionary movement are firmly rooted in the real economic struggles of Nigerians.
As a socialist-driven and pro-worker party, the AAC believes democracy must mean more than elections. Democracy must put food on people's tables, provide decent wages, affordable housing, quality healthcare, functional education and dignified employment.
The ₦500,000 demand is therefore not merely about a figure. It is about dignity, economic justice and the right of every Nigerian worker to live decently from their labour.
The emerging national consensus around a ₦500,000 minimum wage also demonstrates the AAC's foresight in identifying the conditions confronting Nigerian workers. We listened to the people, understood their struggles and proposed a solution.
We therefore urge Nigerian workers, youths, women, artisans, farmers, students and all oppressed Nigerians to look beyond empty electoral promises and choose the African Action Congress, the party committed to economic justice, workers' dignity and genuine dividends of democracy.
We stand with Nigerian workers and all oppressed Nigerians, as the struggle for economic justice has become our collective responsibility.
Take It Back!

AAC: NO MONARCH CAN BAN SOWORE OR ANY CANDIDATE FROM CAMPAIGNING IN OSUN
The African Action Congress (AAC) condemns in the strongest terms the reported declaration by the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, purporting to bar presidential candidates other than President Bola Tinubu from campaigning in Osun State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Osun State belongs to its people, not to any monarch, political party or individual. No traditional ruler has the constitutional authority to determine who can or cannot seek the votes of Nigerians.
The 1999 Constitution guarantees freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, association and movement. These rights belong to every Nigerian and every political candidate, including AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.
The Electoral Act also makes clear that electoral processes must not be manipulated to give undue advantage to any candidate. Campaigns are regulated by INEC and the law, not by palaces or political interests.
AAC therefore calls on INEC and all security agencies to immediately take necessary actions against this threat to democracy in Osun State.
We will not accept the transformation of traditional institutions into instruments of partisan politics.
Nigeria is a constitutional democracy, not a monarchy.
Sowore will campaign in Osun. AAC will campaign across Nigeria. It is Nigerians, not traditional rulers, who will decide who governs Nigeria in 2027.

AAC STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH AUGUST 5 PROTEST; NIGERIANS MUST RISE
The AAC declares full solidarity with the nationwide protest being organized by the Take It Back Movement, scheduled on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026.
This date marks the anniversary of #RevolutionNow, a reminder of the people's demand for justice, accountability, and true democracy.
Today, millions of Nigerians are suffering under the weight of poverty, hunger, insecurity, and hardship, while kidnappings and violence plague our communities. In spite of all these, elected leaders and government appointees have remained ruthless in looting our common wealth with impunity.
There is no better time to demand accountability and Justice than now.
We call on our members in Nigeria and the diaspora to massively mobilize and actively participate in the protest. We also call on all Nigerians who desire a just, secure, and prosperous nation to join the August 5 protest peacefully.
Let our collective voices send a clear message - that Nigerians reject hunger, insecurity, corruption, and anti-people policies.
Security agencies must respect citizens' rights and provide protection.
Together, we can Liberate Nigeria.
Join the August 5 nationwide protest!
