TINUBU'S LATEST ATTACK ON THE NDC CONFIRMS A SYSTEMATIC WAR AGAINST DEMOCRACY AND THE OPPOSITION
The African Action Congress (AAC) condemns the latest court order purporting to deregister the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This development is yet another dangerous chapter in the ongoing campaign by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu regime to dismantle political opposition and impose a one-party dictatorship on Nigeria.
Over the past months, the Nigerian people have witnessed a coordinated pattern of repression targeted at opposition political parties, candidates, activists, and voices of dissent. The weaponization of state institutions, particularly the judiciary, against perceived political opponents has become a defining feature of this administration.
Our presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, remains imprisoned in Kuje Prison simply because he represents a genuine political challenge to the Tinubu regime. Similarly, five opposition political parties were subjected to unjust judicial attacks through the actions of Justice Peter Lifu, until the Court of Appeal intervened to halt that assault on democracy.
The latest order against the NDC follows the same troubling pattern.
These actions have nothing to do with justice or the rule of law. They are calculated attempts to eliminate political competition, silence alternative voices, and intimidate Nigerians into accepting authoritarian rule.
A democracy without viable opposition is no democracy at all. When courts become instruments of political persecution and state power is deployed to weaken opposition parties rather than address insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and corruption, the country moves dangerously close to dictatorship.
The AAC stands in solidarity with the NDC and every political organization facing politically motivated persecution. An attack on one party is an attack on democracy itself.
We call on all Nigerians, civil society organizations, pro-democracy groups, labour unions, students, and the international democratic community to reject this systematic destruction of Nigeria's democratic space.
History has shown that no authoritarian government willingly surrenders power. The Nigerian people must organize peacefully but resolutely to resist this descent into tyranny and reclaim the democratic freedoms won through decades of sacrifice.
Nigeria belongs to its people, not to one man, one political party, or one regime.

TINUBU'S ATTEMPT TO SILENCE SOWORE HAS FAILED: AAC DECLARES AN INTENSIFIED CAMPAIGN FOR THE LIBERATION OF NIGERIA
The African Action Congress (AAC) strongly condemns the latest judicial assault against our Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, following the order of Justice M.G. Umar remanding him at the Kuje Correctional Centre under circumstances that clearly expose the political character of the persecution being orchestrated against him.
This reckless exercise of judicial power leaves no doubt that the case against Sowore is driven not by law, but by political considerations and a desperate attempt by the Tinubu regime to silence the most consistent and uncompromising voice of opposition in Nigeria.
Two major factors have made this persecution even more vicious.
First, millions of Nigerians are increasingly paying attention to the message of liberation championed by Sowore and are embracing the revolutionary programme of the African Action Congress. The ruling establishment is alarmed by the growing popularity of a movement that seeks to place political power in the hands of ordinary Nigerians.
Second, Sowore and the Take It Back Movement have sustained vigorous advocacy and protests demanding the rescue of school pupils and teachers abducted by terrorists in Oyo State. Rather than confront insecurity and protect lives, the government has chosen to persecute those who insist that the lives of Nigerians matter.
The AAC views this latest action as part of a broader plot by the Tinubu administration to weaken democratic opposition and eliminate the fiercest and most credible challenge to its anti-people policies. We state unequivocally that such schemes will fail.
Accordingly, the African Action Congress is mobilizing its members and supporters across Nigeria and around the world to resist every attempt to destroy democracy and criminalize dissent.
The biased conduct of Justice M.G. Umar will not go unchallenged. The judiciary must not be reduced to an instrument in the hands of an increasingly authoritarian APC administration.
We are pleased to inform Nigerians that Comrade Omoyele Sowore remains in very high spirits. True to his lifelong commitment to the struggle for justice and social transformation, he has already commenced revolutionary mobilization even from prison. His incarceration cannot imprison the ideals of freedom and people's power.
Tinubu's attempt to silence Sowore has failed. His detention shall become a rallying point for a broader and more determined struggle to liberate Nigeria from poverty, insecurity, corruption and state repression.
We therefore call on all members of the AAC, supporters of democracy and oppressed Nigerians to rise to this historic responsibility. Beyond demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Omoyele Sowore, Nigerians must intensify the struggle for the liberation of our country and rally around the African Action Congress, which is the genuine vehicle for the emancipation of the Nigerian people.
We call on all Nigerians to continue the struggle that Sowore has championed and ensure that the plight of the abducted Oyo pupils are not relegated to back pages.
No amount of intimidation, judicial manipulation or state-sponsored persecution can extinguish the people's desire for freedom.

AAC REJECTS STATE-SPONSORED INJUSTICE AGAINST OMOYELE SOWORE, CONDEMNS JUSTICE MOHAMMED GARBA UMAR'S ABUSE OF JUDICIAL POWERS
The African Action Congress (AAC) vehemently rejects the latest act of judicial recklessness and state-sponsored persecution orchestrated against our presidential candidate and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, by Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
In a disturbing display of bias and contempt for the principles of justice, Justice Umar, who had been formally asked to recuse himself from the case because of well-founded concerns regarding his impartiality, refused to do so and proceeded to revoke Sowore's bail and issue a bench warrant against him.
This decision is not only unjust but outrageous, considering that the court itself failed to sit on the previously adjourned date of June 15, 2026. Omoyele Sowore was physically present in court from 8:20 a.m. until nearly noon before he was informed that the judge would not be sitting. No prior notice was given, nor was any explanation offered for the judge's absence.
Having failed to appear on the scheduled date, Justice Umar, through the court registry, directed parties to return the following day. In good faith, Sowore formally communicated his inability to attend on June 16 and requested alternative dates for the ruling on his application seeking the judge's recusal. Rather than addressing the serious allegations of bias against him, Justice Umar chose the dishonorable path of judicial rascality by revoking Sowore's bail and issuing a bench warrant.
The AAC views this action as part of the broader campaign of political persecution being executed by the Bola Tinubu regime against dissenting voices. It is a dangerous assault on judicial integrity and a clear indication that certain elements within the judiciary have become willing instruments in the hands of those determined to silence critics and criminalize opposition.
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar cannot be a judge in his own cause. His refusal to recuse himself despite serious concerns over his impartiality, and his subsequent punitive actions against the very person questioning his neutrality, amount to an egregious abuse of judicial powers and a stain on the administration of justice.
We reject this state-sponsored injustice in its entirety.
The Nigerian people must recognize that what is happening to Omoyele Sowore today is a test case for democracy itself. If the judiciary can be weaponized against one citizen for expressing dissent, no Nigerian is safe from tyranny.
AAC remains resolute in standing with Omoyele Sowore, to not only upturn this injustice, but to also bring to an end the authoritarian regime of a failed President Tinubu.
We hereby call on all democratic forces, civil society organizations, the legal community, lovers of justice and especially members of our great AAC Party, to brace up and get ready for the fiercest resistance of our Party's political history, as we are poised to take over the country with series of mass actions, until the tyrant in Aso Villa is disgracefully flushed out of Power.

TINUBU'S LATEST ASSAULT ON DEMOCRACY MUST BE RESISTED - AAC STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH AFFECTED POLITICAL PARTIES
The African Action Congress (AAC) condemns the Judicial rascality and political assault on multiparty democracy in Nigeria, following the judgment of Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordering the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party (A), Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
We stand in unwavering solidarity with the affected political Parties.
This development represents a dangerous assault on democracy, further enabling authoritarian control, a leadership style Bola Tinubu is infamous for.
Interestingly, the Plaintiff in this case is a Forum of former legislators, they had earlier endorsed Bola Tinubu as their sole
Presidential candidate. Also, Justice Lifu's decision to grant a judgement, was in flagrant disobedience to a standing Appeal Court order.
At a time when Nigerians are suffering unprecedented hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and state repression, the Tinubu administration appears determined to launch a brutal attack against democracy itself, by undermining the existence of opposition Parties and restricting the rights of citizens to freely organize and participate politically.
The strength of democracy lies in political pluralism, and the ability of citizens to create and support parties that represent their aspirations. Any attempt to extinguish these rights is an attack on the Nigerian people.
The African Action Congress calls on the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), civil society organizations, Labour Unions, Student groups, and all Nigerians of conscience to resist this dangerous precedent. Silence in the face of this attack will only embolden our oppressors to bury what remains of our democracy.
Today it is ADC, Accord, AA, APP, and ZLP. Tomorrow it could be any other opposition Party.
AAC reiterates that Nigeria belongs to its people, not to a ruling clique desperate to eliminate every voice of dissent and political opposition.
We therefore urge all democratic stakeholders to unite in defence of Democracy, it has become our collective responsibility.
Nigerians must resist every attempt to impose a One-Party state through judicial and political manipulation.

AAC CONDEMNS VIOLENT ATTACK ON PEACEFUL PROTESTERS IN OYO, DEMANDS IMMEDIATE ARREST AND PROSECUTION OF PERPETRATORS
The African Action Congress (AAC) strongly condemns the violent attack unleashed on members of the Take It Back Movement and other peaceful protesters in Ibadan, Oyo State, who were exercising their constitutional right to demand urgent action for the rescue and release of kidnapped children and teachers.
Reports available indicate that armed political thugs, mobilized and transported in multiple buses, descended on peaceful demonstrators, shooting at and assaulting protesters. Several persons sustained varying degrees of injuries, while others suffered loss of personal property. Particularly disturbing are reports that threats of physical harm were directed at Comrade Kayode Babayomi, the AAC Chairman in Oyo State, and other activists participating in the protest.
The attack, which occurred in broad daylight in a highbrow area of Ibadan and within proximity to the Government House, raises grave questions about the role of the authorities and the disturbing climate of impunity surrounding political violence. Even more troubling are reports that security personnel present at the scene allegedly failed to intervene while the assailants attacked, robbed and brutalized peaceful citizens.
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, must be held responsible for creating the atmosphere that enabled this brazen assault on citizens exercising their democratic rights. Such acts of intimidation and violence have no place in a constitutional democracy and must attract serious consequences.
AAC has received reports identifying certain individuals allegedly involved in coordinating and leading the attack on peaceful protesters. Among those named are Akinteye Babtee Babatunde, identified by witnesses as one of the leaders of the assailants, and Victor, reportedly a Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde. These allegations are serious and must be subjected to immediate investigation. No individual, regardless of political office or affiliation, should be shielded from accountability.
We are particularly alarmed by the deafening silence of the Oyo State Police Command following such a brazen act of violence. That armed attacks on peaceful citizens could occur in the heart of Ibadan, not in some remote forest, but within a major urban center and close to the seat of government, without any immediate response from the authorities, represents a dangerous normalization of political banditry.
Accordingly, the African Action Congress (AAC) calls on the Inspector-General of Police to immediately order a comprehensive investigation into the attack and ensure the arrest and prosecution of all those directly involved, including their sponsors. We also call on the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, to act without delay and demonstrate that the police remain committed to protecting the constitutional rights of Nigerians rather than standing by while criminal elements unleash violence on citizens.
There must be consequences for this criminal attack. Nigerians cannot be expected to endure worsening insecurity while also facing violence for peacefully demanding accountability from those in power. Democracy cannot coexist with political thuggery, and the use of violence to suppress legitimate dissent must be firmly resisted.
AAC stands in solidarity with all victims of this attack and reiterates that violence and intimidation will never extinguish the people's legitimate demand for security, justice, and democratic accountability.
