Today, as we mark 66 years of independence, we celebrate Nigeria as a nation of enormous potential, resilient people and a future that is still ours to build. Independence gave us the responsibility to determine our own destiny. 66 years later, that responsibility remains with us. But we must also be honest about where we are. For millions of Nigerians, the promise of independence is weighed down by insecurity, unemployment and the rising cost of living. Families are struggling to afford food and basic necessities, while parents worry about the safety and future of their children.
In Borno State, children abducted from their communities remain in captivity, while their parents continue to wait, pray and demand their safe return. No nation can be truly free while its children are held captive.
Our independence must mean more than the end of colonial rule. It must mean freedom from fear, freedom from extreme poverty, safe schools for our children, opportunities for our young people, and the protection of the rights, dignity and freedoms of every citizen.
Nigeria has enormous challenges, but we are not without hope. Our greatest strength remains our people, resilient, hardworking and determined to build a better country. But resilience should never become an excuse for government failure.
The Federal Government must match the sacrifices of Nigerians with urgency, accountability and action. We must secure our communities, bring our children home, ease the burden of the cost of living, create opportunities, strengthen our institutions and protect the fundamental rights and dignity of every Nigerian.
The promise of Nigeria cannot remain a promise. I call on the Federal Government to act with greater urgency and resolve to deliver the security, dignity, freedom and opportunity that every Nigerian deserves. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and her people.

WATCH: TINUBU RETURNS FROM FRANCE TO “THIEF! THIEF!” CHANTS.
Nigerians were seen chanting “Thief! Thief!” along the airport road as President Tinubu’s convoy passed after his return from France.
The youth are awake, and the message is clear: give Nigerians hope, jobs, security and affordable living, or face the judgment of a generation that has suffered enough.
Tinubu is gone.
A true leader is measured not
only by rank, but by the lives he inspires and the example he sets.
Col. Manga has consistently demonstrated courage, integrity, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to his troops and the mission.

BREAKING: A bloc of Kwankwasiyya supporters, “Bangaren Masu Hankali” (the sensible Kwankwasiyya supporters), has reportedly declared support for Atiku Abubakar ahead of 2027.
Earlier today in Kaduna, I attended the Combined Passing Out Parade and Commissioning Ceremony of the Nigerian Defence Academy. It was a particularly special occasion for my family as my brother in law, Yusuf Habibu Shuaibu, was among those commissioned as an officer of the Nigerian Air Force. Earlier this year, Yusuf was called to the Nigerian Bar, and today he has taken on another significant responsibility by serving and defending our country as a commissioned military officer. He is an excellent religious scholar and embodies a bright young person.
From the law to the military, his journey is a testament to discipline, service and a willingness to take on responsibility. I am incredibly proud of him and excited for what lies ahead. Congratulations, Yusuf. May Allah guide you, protect you and grant you the wisdom, courage and strength to serve our country with honour. I was joined by two brother in laws, Mohammed Habib Shuaib who works at TETFund, his younger brother and the Vice President of SWA Global, Idris Habibu Shuaibu, Yusuf’s elder brother and my childhood friend, Fah’d Mohammed, a first class architect.
I was also pleased to be at the ceremony alongside the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas. To all the officers of the 73 Regular Course, Short Service Course 49 (Army), Direct Short Service Course 34 (Air Force) and Branch Commission Course 3 (Air Force), congratulations on this important milestone.
The uniform you wear comes with a responsibility greater than yourselves. Nigeria needs officers who will lead with courage, discipline, competence and integrity, and remain committed to the Constitution and the protection of our people. I commend the leadership, instructors and staff of the Nigerian Defence Academy for their commitment to preparing these men and women for the demands of service.
To the families who supported these officers throughout their training, congratulations to you as well. May Allah grant our newly commissioned officers wisdom and courage as they begin this new chapter of service to Nigeria.
