A wonderful way to wrap up Canada Day at Spruce Meadows 🇨🇦
Loved cheering on the corgi races, watching world class equestrian competition, enjoying a great performance by Brett Kissel @BrettKissel, and celebrating everything that makes Alberta so special.
It was also a pleasure to meet Tommy Wheeldon Jr., head coach of Cavalry FC. What a great ambassador for the sport ⚽️
Great turnout at our Canada Day 🇨🇦 UCP Volunteer Appreciation BBQ! It was wonderful catching up with so many friends, volunteers, and supporters. And even had the chance to meet Miss Teen Calgary, Emily, and Miss Jr. Teen Calgary, Izabella!
Rather than hoping savings are passed along at the gas pump, we’re putting money directly into the pockets of Albertans.
Eligible adults can now apply for the $100 Alberta Energy Rebate, meaning the average Alberta family can receive $200 in direct support.

Canada Day is a time to reflect on the foundations of our country and the values that unite us, including a belief in freedom, democracy and respect for one another.
Canada is known around the world as a nation full of opportunity, built by generations of resilient families who have worked hard and contributed to strong and stable communities. Those same qualities continue to shape our future and guide who we are today.
Albertans have helped shape Canada's success from the very beginning. Our ingenuity, entrepreneurial spirit, resourcefulness and work ethic have strengthened our country, powered its economy and created opportunity for millions of Canadians.
I believe in a strong Alberta and a strong Canada. Canada’s future is bright, and I remain optimistic about what we can achieve together as a united country.
As we celebrate Canada Day, let us be grateful for the blessings we share, proud of all we have accomplished together, and determined to leave an even stronger country for future generations.
Happy Canada Day!
Albertans are the kind of people who work hard, look out for their neighbours, and never back down from a challenge.
It was great to recently join @MikeEllisUCP incredible team of volunteers door knocking in Calgary Acadia. Thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with us at the door.
We’ve issued an update on the flooding in Kananaskis.
I’m pleased that access has been restored to Engadine Lodge, and the Smith Dorrien Trail toward Spray West Campground. Campers at Mt Kidd are now able to exit via southbound Highway 40 through the Highwood Pass.
A State of Local Emergency remains in effect for Kananaskis Country, and conditions can still change quickly. Visitors are asked to check Alberta Parks Advisories before travelling, respect all barricades and signage, and avoid closed areas for their safety and to support ongoing recovery work. We will keep working to restore full access as quickly and safely as possible.
Visit https://t.co/IWvGdz4qPq for latest updates.
Heavy rainfall has caused flooding in parts of Kananaskis Country, and some campers and visitors are currently being asked to remain where they are while crews work to restore safe road access.
This is an evolving situation.
Please avoid non-essential travel to the area and follow the latest updates here: https://t.co/vMtUxXRSr9
I'll continue to share updates as we receive them.
⚠️Kananaskis Improvement District and Kananaskis Country have issued a State of Local Emergency due to ongoing rainfall and localized flooding affecting road access and several recreation areas.
Some road access remains limited in parts of Kananaskis Country. We are actively working to establish road access for those currently unable to leave the area. Visitors in the area are asked to remain where they are if it is safe to do so. William Watson Lodge and Peter Lougheed Discovery Centre are available as a temporary shelter for those who require a safe, dry place to stay.
Visitors are encouraged to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve. Impacted reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded.
Emergency teams continue to coordinate response efforts and are monitoring infrastructure, supporting campground operations, and maintaining road closures where needed.
Updates will be provided as available at https://t.co/28nKSlvDtm
With this incredible goal, in extra time, Canada 🇨🇦 is heading to the final 16 for the first time in World Cup history ⚽️
Huge congrats to the entire team @CANMNT_Official— you have made all of Canada proud!
This is the cutest constituent I’ve ever received flowers from 💐 thank you!
I hope every woman considering a leadership role knows that your voice matters, your experiences matter, and Alberta is stronger when talented women step forward to serve. That’s exactly what we talked about at the Equal Voice event this weekend.
I am pleased that the City of Calgary and Stampede event operators have reached a compromise that will allow this year's Calgary Stampede to move forward.
The agreement increases the sound levels originally proposed by the City for this year's Stampede, while remaining below last year's levels, in exchange for live music ending at midnight each night. While no compromise is perfect, I appreciate the willingness of both the City and event operators to come together and find a practical solution ahead of Alberta's largest tourism event.
From the outset, I directed Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services Mike Ellis to work with all parties to help facilitate discussions. Earlier this week, Minister Ellis brought together event operators, several Calgary city councillors, staff from the Mayor's Office, Alberta Sheriffs, and the Calgary Police Service, facilitating a meeting that encouraged constructive dialogue and helped move the parties toward a resolution.
At the same time, our government brought together Alberta Sheriffs and the Calgary Police Service to sign a first-of-its-kind memorandum of understanding, strengthening the law enforcement presence throughout Stampede and helping ensure residents and visitors can enjoy the festivities safely and responsibly.
This compromise provides greater certainty for this year's Stampede. I hope all parties build on this progress by working together much earlier ahead of next year's event so residents, businesses, artists, event organizers, and nearby communities have greater certainty and last-minute issues like this can be avoided.
I want to thank everyone who came to the table in good faith and worked toward a solution. I wish all Albertans and visitors a safe, successful, and memorable Calgary Stampede.
Happy Stampeding. YAHOO!
The Ponoka Stampede is officially underway, kicking off its 90th season and celebrating the Year of the Cowgirl!
It was a pleasure to meet Del Vold and Elva Lewis, 95 and 101 years young, who were honoured as this year’s Co Presidents. What a wonderful way to recognize two remarkable Albertans.
I enjoyed lunch with caucus colleagues before taking in some outstanding rodeo action. Best of luck to all the cowboys and cowgirls competing this weekend.
My candy throwing arm definitely got a workout today! 🍬 💪
It was so much fun kicking off the Ponoka Stampede at the parade with MLA Jennifer Johnson. Great to see so many kids, families, and even a few adorable pups lining the streets. I hope everyone went home with a bag full of treats.
Now it’s time for the rodeo. Ponoka really knows how to put on a show.
Great turnout in Olds for our town hall with MLA Tara Sawyer @TaraSawyer23.
We covered a lot of ground, from affordability and job creation to Alberta’s growing economy, the future of our province, and the important decisions ahead. I appreciate everyone who took the time to join the conversation.
Thank you to Tara and your constituency association for hosting another fantastic event.
I toured Tofield with MLA Jackie Lovely @JackieLovelyAB to see firsthand how residents have been affected by the recent heavy rainfall and to receive an update on flood mitigation and recovery efforts.
Thank you to everyone working tirelessly to protect homes, support neighbours, and help the community recover.
Congratulations to Mike Derry on securing the UCP nomination for Calgary Shaw tonight. It was great to stop by and congratulate him in person after a very close race.
I also want to sincerely thank Dan McLean @DanWMcLean for putting his name forward. Dan has been a strong advocate for Calgary and I know he will continue making a positive difference for our city and our province.
Congratulations to both candidates and thank you to everyone who came out to vote. Now it is time to come together and paint Alberta blue 🧢
Honest conversations. New ideas.
That’s democracy at its best.
One of the most important parts of my job is hearing directly from Albertans— those conversations help shape our policies and ensure we’re focused on the issues that matter most to the people we serve.
Thank you to everyone who came out to both our UCP town halls over the last day in Edson and thank you to Martin Long for hosting.
