Dear ACA Members and Colleagues,

It is with a sense of deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Gwendolyn C. Chunn, the 98th President of the American Correctional Association and a remarkable leader whose influence helped shape the corrections profession.

Gwendolyn dedicated her life to public service, advancing the fields of corrections and juvenile justice through integrity, innovation, and unwavering commitment. Her leadership extended from North Carolina’s Division of Youth Services to national service within the American Correctional Association, where she played an instrumental role in strengthening our organization and advancing professional standards.

Her legacy of advocacy, mentorship, and dedication to evidence-based practices will continue to inspire corrections professionals across the country.

On behalf of the American Correctional Association, I extend my deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. The profession is stronger because of her contributions, and her impact will not be forgotten.
