Yes. Because of its size and location, the moon tree will have to be removed for construction and is too large to be relocated. The ACCGov Landscape Management Division has been cultivating seeds from the tree and would replant some at the site and at other locations for its offspring to grow.

ACCGov is seeking applications from 10th-12th grade students who are interested in taking part in the Mayor's Youth Council. Eligible students can attend public or private schools or be homeschooled, but must be Athens-Clarke County residents.
Council members attend meetings twice per month and participate in periodic service activities, adding up to a time commitment of around six hours/month from September through December. Meetings are held on Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:30 PM.
