Being recognised as a finalist in Australia's most prestigious construction award shines a spotlight on the combined delivery of Western Sydney International Airport's Airside Civil and Pavement - delivered in Joint Venture with CPB Contractors and TSS (Multiplex).

Together, we brought Australia's first major, international, greenfield airport in more than 50 years, to life.

Congratulations to our Airside Civil and Pavement team on the key role they played to deliver critical airfield infrastructure - with Australian-first innovations including slipform paving for aircraft pavements and a self-healing, high-voltage electrical network.

Being recognised as a finalist is a fantastic achievement and testament to the expertise, innovation and dedication of everyone involved in delivering one of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects.

Another major tunnelling milestone beneath Sydney!

The second of two tunnel boring machines, Barangaroo, has begun its journey from Birchgrove towards Waverton to join Patyegarang in excavating the twin three-lane tunnels beneath Sydney Harbour.

Weighing around 4,000 tonnes, these are the largest tunnel boring machines in the Southern Hemisphere.

The machines will travel approximately 1.5 kilometres with millimetre-precision to excavate an average of 50 metres of rock each week.

We're proud to deliver this complex tunnelling operation to create the third road crossing of Sydney Harbour.

Two 145-tonne CO₂ vessels installed using innovative gantry crane solution

The Alkimos Seawater Alliance, near Perth Western Australia, have successfully installed two 26-metre-long, 145-tonne CO₂ storage vessels using a gantry crane.

This approach ensured safety in a constrained site environment while reducing time and cost.

The gantry crane allowed each vessel to be delivered directly beneath the lifting point, eliminating the need for large crane swing areas and minimising site disruption.

The first lift took 3.5 hours as the team worked through every stage with precision, while the second was completed in just two hours thanks to lessons learned and seamless collaboration.

Transporting and positioning the vessels required meticulous planning.

A Self-Propelled Modular Transporter manoeuvred the oversized loads through tight access points, while surveyors monitored every movement to ensure exact alignment with design specifications.

The CO₂ stored in these vessels is essential for post-treatment of desalinated water, improving its quality before entering the supply network. Each vessel features advanced insulation and vacuum technology to maintain extremely low temperatures for liquid CO₂ storage.

This project demonstrates how innovative lifting solutions can overcome space constraints, enhance safety and deliver critical infrastructure efficiently.

The desalination plant, delivered by the Alkimos Seawater Alliance, comprising ACCIONA, Water Corporation and Jacobs, will help the region manage declining rainfall and growing demand for drinking water.

Behind the Scenes: Our accommodation at Humelink East

ACCIONA’s Yass Worker Accommodation Facility in New South Wales provides a home base for up to 300 people working on the Humelink East project, designed with wellbeing and adaptability in mind.

Professional Surfer, and ACCIONA Ambassador, Isabella Nichols toured the camp, located just 7 kilometres from Yass. It includes a fully equipped gym, recreation spaces and quiet outdoor areas to help workers recharge after their shifts.

Flexibility is built into the design. The facility can scale from 300 to 100 residents without losing access to core amenities, ensuring efficient use of resources across different project phases.
