Today, we pray especially for the children who live in countries affected by war. For those who are afraid, who have had to leave their homes, who cannot go to school or who have lost someone they love.

Let us ask Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to protect every child living in fear and danger. May He bring peace to their countries and comfort to their families. May He touch the hearts of those who make war and help them choose peace instead.

Marielle Boutros, who coordinates ACN's projects in Lebanon, says ongoing insecurity is forcing parents to focus their limited resources on basic necessities. 💔

"We are still in a state of war and nobody knows what is going to happen. If you are a parent, even in a safer area, you are not going to spend the little you have on tuition fees when you can't be sure if you will have the money to feed your family." 🕊️🙏

St Theodore was born in Tarsus in 602. He became a monk and was studying and living in Rome. In 667, although he had not yet been ordained a priest, Pope Vitalian chose him to be the next Archbishop of Canterbury after Archbishop-elect Wighard died before being consecrated Archbishop of Canterbury. In March 668, Pope Vitalian consecrated St Theodore as Archbishop.

In May 669, St Theodore arrived in the See of Canterbury where he found the Church in England was highly disorganised and deeply disunited fuelled by jealousies and bitterness; some Dioceses were without an appointed Bishop. St Theodore visited every Diocese; he introduced administrative rigour, reorganised the Dioceses and united them under his leadership promoting evangelisation, clergy discipline, scholarship, and the teaching of music. In 672, St Theodore convened the first ever national conference – or synod - of the Church in England in 673 and a second one in 680. St Theodore died in 690.

St Theodore of Canterbury was scholarly, but he was principally an evangeliser. By God’s grace, we too can follow his example.
