So @runningonmt_ and I wrote a thing on responding to many comparisons being made between Vietnam and Afghanistan and in terms in terms of our duty to refugees.
As children of Vietnamese refugees — of loved ones who died in camps, were kidnapped or drowned escaping, Afghanistan brings traumatic memories.

@surim0n@buildfutureto@TOtechweek@Toronto Do you think you’re the first person who thought of doing this and no one has thought of this before?
Do you know what @CivicTechTO is who has been doing this for over a decade with volunteer made tech actually in prod? Do you have any curiosity about people already doing this?
The President’s threats are beneath the honor of our nation, but the reality is that he wants to occupy our city and break our Constitution.
We must defend our democracy from this authoritarianism by protecting each other and protecting Chicago from Donald Trump.
This is all public information. Go ahead and sue me for libel or defamation and do the thing you do best - waste the court’s time https://t.co/knu5gNoNRh
Kevin doesn’t know how acronyms work so let me demonstrate. Did you know that KV in Kevin Vuong, means “keeps violating” the court order when it appears that you have not paid up your settlement and wastes the court’s time? #IYKYK
I didn't know the 'D' in NDP stood for 'Deforming women with acid for refusing to cover their hair'.
Thanks to the NDP's former candidate for Etobicoke-Lakeshore for enlightening me.
Dumb idea that might work on a stupid person who is holding the global economy hostage - Have economists considered renaming “trade deficit” to something else?
@David_Moscrop Coincidentally the NDP also has an opportunity to posit a vision of workers building things to promote a positive worker-led vision of what a Canada and US relationships. It’s happening in the video game industry, though granted not a traditional union https://t.co/Tq6Q0mofHX
@BryanPassifiume I am not withdrawing from public service.
You do not have to be in public office to make a public difference, and I'm more focused than ever on building a better city, province, and country – not only for us, but for my daughter and the next generation.
My statement:
I actually think the fact that they’re all executives and that there’s no tech worker perspective who are day in and day out doing the building is the bigger blindspot.
Only aware of UVW-CWA right now that could at least represent Canadian tech workers in video games
@Diana_C_McNally This is the least important part of the critique but why do they always have the worst AI art when they make up something to be mad about?
@KelseyTuoc It is honestly incredibly annoying when Americans who presumably care about not invading Canada and make jokes about moving to Canada treat the annexation of a sovereign country as an electoral gamesmanship exercise.
Tristin - telling an anecdote how he was a child psychopath and then using experience to pronounce all children are this way.
Everyone else - no children are not like this.
Tristin - *Realizing he revealed he’s a bad person* Actually I was joking…
In my day, the humourless puritan bullies were all right-wingers. If our readership is exploding of late (and it is), it's partially because we offer a vision of life that isn't just clucking your tongue at perceived improprieties until you die.

Whenever someone says they’re a child of immigrants, they should have to disclose whether we’re talking about like a child of asylum seekers or a child of the reason someone else had to seek asylum. I feel like that gap is pretty important.
I always thought we don’t learn enough about Jack Welch on setting the model to move production into rent-seeking behavior from shareholders. This is a great piece
Newsletter: The Shareholder Supremacy has eaten the world, turning the tech industry into the playground of do-nothing management dictators that see human beings as assets and the customer as subordinate to growth - all inspired by GE’s Jack Welch.
