Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Birth Anniversary Celebrations at the University of Hyderabad

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, commemorative celebrations were held at the University of Hyderabad.

On this occasion, @gowdkiran the National President of the All India OBC Students Association urged the Union Government to take the following measures:
1.Officially observe the birth and death anniversaries of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule at the national level.
2.Confer the Bharat Ratna on both Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule in recognition of their unparalleled contributions to social justice and education.
3.Establish “Phule Centres” in all universities to promote the empowerment and advancement of Backward Classes.
4.Rename the National Fellowship for OBCs (NFOBC) in honour of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and increase the number of fellowships from 1,000 to 10,000.

These demands reflect the continued commitment to advancing the ideals of social justice, equality, and educational empowerment championed by the Phules.

The time has come for SC, ST, OBC, and other socially marginalized students and research scholars to unite like never before. Across the country, anti-reservation and anti-social justice forces are systematically attempting to weaken the constitutional rights secured through decades of struggle. @gowdkiran

Reservations are not charity—they are a constitutional guarantee to ensure equal representation and justice.

Our unity is our greatest strength. Let us stand together to defend the Constitution, protect reservations, and build an inclusive and equitable education system.

Former Minister Shri. @VSrinivasGoud unveiled the poster for the AIOBCSA 6th National Convention, to be held on 7 August at the University of Hyderabad.

He called upon OBC students, youth, researchers, and social justice advocates from across India to participate in large numbers and make the convention a grand success. Marking Mandal Diwas and the 200th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, he stressed the need to defend constitutional values and social justice at a time when reservations are under attack.

IIM Ahmedabad is a glaring example of institutional exclusion.
Out of 100 filled faculty positions, there is only 1 OBC Assistant Professor and 0 SC, 0 ST faculty members.

इसी दिन, 1902 में, महाराष्ट्र की कोल्हापुर रियासत के तत्कालीन राजा छत्रपति साहू महाराज ने अपने शासन वाले इलाके में पिछड़े वर्गों (OBC और SC) के लिए सरकारी नौकरियों में 50 प्रतिशत आरक्षण देने का आदेश जारी किया था।
वे भारत के इतिहास में ऐसे पहले सामाजिक क्रांतिकारी थे जिन्होंने दबे-कुचले लोगों को प्रतिनिधित्व का अधिकार दिया।
हम कृतज्ञता के साथ साहू महाराज को याद करते हैं, जिन्होंने ब्राह्मणों के वर्चस्व के खिलाफ और दबे-कुचले लोगों व महिलाओं के आत्म-सम्मान के लिए जीवन भर काम किया।

JULY 26:
It was on this day in 1902, Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj, the then King of princely state of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, issued an order allocating 50 per cent reservation in government employment to the backward classes (OBCs and SCs) in the area under his administration.
He was the first social revolutionary in the history of India to grant the oppressed people the right of representation.
With a sense of gratitude we remember Sahu Maharaj who worked till the end against the domination of Brahmins and for the self-respect of the oppressed people and women.

Reservation is not a privilege. It is a constitutional remedy for historical and continuing social and educational exclusion.
