Our Association is holding various meetings at INTERSCHUTZ 2026, which is taking place in Hanover, Germany, between 1–6 June 2026, with the aim of strengthening our relationships with international stakeholders, following the latest developments in disaster and emergency management technologies, and examining new equipment and systems that can be utilized in search and rescue operations.
Throughout the exhibition, contacts are being established with numerous organizations, institutions, and companies operating in the fields of search and rescue, firefighting, civil protection, emergency medical services, and disaster management. Opportunities for international cooperation are being evaluated, and ideas are being exchanged regarding potential joint projects and future collaborations.
In addition, national companies exhibiting at the fair are being visited and supported. Information is being gathered about their products and services, and potential areas of cooperation are being assessed.

AKUT has achieved a significant international success.
At the 2026 Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards held in the UK, our organization was nominated in four categories, was shortlisted in all of them, and was awarded “Voluntary Organisation of the Year.”
The award was received on behalf of our organization at the ceremony held on May 15.
This achievement reflects our operational capacity in search and rescue, our alignment with international standards, and our continuous commitment to preparedness.
We thank all our volunteers and supporters who contributed to this achievement.
As AKUT Search and Rescue Association, we hosted the Disaster and Humanitarian Advisors of the United States Embassy Ankara at our Ataşehir İskender Iğdır Logistics Center.
The visit was attended by our Vice President Ali Osman Özel, Head of Exercise and Evaluation Department Eren Aşkın, Head of Exercises Unit Kaan Sabah, and Istanbul Team Leader Adem Ceran. Discussions focused on strengthening relations and enhancing coordination in potential national and international disaster and emergency situations.

The “Search Dog Wilderness and Rubble Search Examination,” organized by the International Rescue Dog Organisation (IRO), of which our Association is also a member, was held for the 9th time in our country on March 28–29. The event was hosted by the Afyonkarahisar AFAD Provincial Directorate K9 Search Training Center, Afyonkarahisar Municipality, and Afyonkarahisar Regional Directorate of Forestry, with the coordination of AKUT Search and Rescue Association teams from Afyon, Bodrum, Bursa, Eskişehir, İstanbul, İzmir, and Marmaris, and in cooperation with UMKE.
Miguel de Prado Garcia and Alois Russeger served as judges in the examination.
A total of 36 dogs and 33 participants from 3 countries took part in simultaneous tests conducted at different levels in the Wilderness (FL) and Rubble (T) disciplines.

Kenneth Burson, representative of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and İsa Ersoy, NFPA Turkey Education Provider, visited our association.
During the visit, a productive meeting was held on disaster and emergency preparedness, international standards, and opportunities for cooperation in search and rescue. We are pleased to continue our cooperation with our international stakeholders to strengthen the exchange of information and experience.

Due to the increased rainfall in Southern Africa, a serious flood risk has occurred, especially in the Limpopo, Incomáti, and Umbeluzi river basins. Upon these developments, the Government of Mozambique has made a call for international assistance through the United Nations.
As the AKUT Search and Rescue Association, we are closely following the situation in the region.

We hosted Mr. Volkan Chih-Yang Huang, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission, and Mr. Larry Dong, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission, at our association headquarters.
During the meeting, the ongoing Taiwan Project was reviewed. The meeting was attended on behalf of our association by Chairman of the Board Mr. Barış Altan Doğan, Vice Chairwoman of the Board Ms. Safiye Şahin, and our Taiwan Project Coordinator.

Between 7 and 10 December, during the INSARAG External Classification (IEC) held in Muscat, Oman, we served as a Management Classifier in the assessment of Oman’s OMA-01 team.
The Omani team demonstrated a highly successful performance across the management, search, rescue, logistics, and medical functions, thereby earning the qualification to upgrade from Medium to Heavy classification.
The assessment was conducted with the participation of a total of 10 classifiers from Türkiye, Germany, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Switzerland, Qatar, and Russia, along with one INSARAG Representative from Russia.
On 26–27 November, our Association held a two-day workshop with the Russia EXTREMUM USAR Team on technical search and USAR coordination and management.
Throughout the workshop, our team led the theoretical and practical sessions on technical search methods, USAR coordination, and operational management, while promoting mutual knowledge and experience exchange between both teams.
Following the program, a visit was made to the Istanbul Fire Brigade’s Kadıköy Fire Station.
Our Association will continue to strengthen cooperation and knowledge-sharing with national and international institutions and organizations.

Akarsu Arama Kurtarma ve İpli Kurtarma çalışmalarının ardından, Nantou Eğitim Tesisleri’nde ve Nantou Kenti’nin çeşitli bölgelerinde düzenlenen “Grimp Day Taiwan Uluslararası İpli Kurtarma Yarışması”na gözlemci olarak katıldık.
25 ekibin yarıştığı etkinlikte, farklı kurtarma tekniklerinin zamana karşı uygulanışını gözlemleme ve değerlendirme fırsatı bulduk. Katılan ekiplerle yaptığımız değerlendirmeler sayesinde bilgi ve tecrübe paylaşımı gerçekleştirdik.

我們以觀察員的身分,參與了於南投訓練設施及南投市多個地點舉辦的「Grimp Day Taiwan 國際繩索救援競賽」。
本次競賽共有 25 支隊伍參加,
我們有機會觀察並評估各種救援技術在限時情況下的實際應用。
同時,也與參賽隊伍進行交流,分享經驗與技術心得。
AKUT & Taiwan National Fire Agency (NFA) Joint Project Continues
Following the Swift Water Rescue and Rope Rescue activities, we participated as observers in the “Grimp Day Taiwan International Rope Rescue Competition,” held at the Nantou Training Facilities and in various locations across Nantou City.
With 25 teams competing, we had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the application of different rescue techniques against time. Through discussions with the participating teams, we exchanged experiences and shared valuable insights.
