We are saddened to share the passing of Mrs. Helen De Los Santos Mata, the namesake of Mata Intermediate School and a beloved member of the Alief ISD family.
A lifelong educator, Mrs. Mata dedicated more than three decades to Alief ISD as a teacher, principal, and leader in bilingual and family engagement programs, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and families.
Her legacy of service, compassion, and belief in the power of education will continue to inspire us all.
Our heartfelt condolences are with her family and loved ones.
