It's one of the many outcomes we can expect in victims of childhood abuse and neglect. Adrien's perception is compromised because everyone around him kept contradicting his own experiences; it's not that Adrien is stupid or that he's lost his mind (as much as we love joking about that), he's a kid who blindly believes the words of the people he loves, who has unresolved grief and has spent his entire life seeking his father's love

It's a defense mechanism, a "socially acceptable" behavior. He's blindly trusting other people's judgment because, in a way, they've already convinced him that his own judgment is wrong

If we really analyze it... it's genuinely heartbreaking to watch what he's going through. Even if he seemed happy in that moment, he's not getting better. He's sinking deeper and deeper
