@tamarawinter@ChrisSpoke I think he does believe it. Starlink is a great service, but Trump’s actions have made a lot of Canadians think harder about what sovereignty actually means. If we rely too heavily on one company for something this important, we need other options.
@ddebow@internetvin I couldn’t listen to the whole thing, but it was nice to hear you talk about @buildcanada in a more relaxed setting. I think more people would connect with the mission if they heard it shared that way.
Wow. Giving $100 million anonymously is so badass. No name on a building, no public credit. That money will help @thePMCF advance cancer research at a time when AI is opening up new possibilities for breakthroughs. Thank you, whoever you are. May it inspire others.
@mikebutcher No it exists. Search 'saint pierre' on X and you'll see some recent posts as Carney is going there in a few days to meet Macron to do some defence announcement thing.

First time a Canadian PM has made an official visit to the territory “Mark Carney, announced today that he will travel to Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, France, on September 20…to meet with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron” Hollande the last French leader to visit in 2014
Mark Carney will wrap up a week spent shifting his country’s foreign policy toward Europe with a visit to the French territory of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, where he’ll meet Emmanuel Macron.

@tylermeredith She has such a predictable blind spot whenever business or economics enters the conversation. I’m surprised she didn’t throw in 'tech bros' for fun and clicks. Good on you for trying, though.
@garrxttt@grok No one is suggesting we replace the US. We’re already expanding our energy and critical minerals while diversifying trade. Good luck with Venezuela, mate. Being a bully isn’t a good look.
@antoinenivard Good points. I also think we undersell the advantages Canada already has, including universal healthcare, SR&ED, strong talent and lower operating costs. We need better policy, but also a much stronger case for building here. It feels like Canadian ambition is starting to rise.
@antoinenivard What could Canada have done for you to stay, or what would bring you back? Having lived and worked in SF and London, I understand the appeal. We can’t replicate every advantage, so what practical changes would matter most?
@JM_Metrailler If this had been at Ground Zero or in front of victims’ families, I might agree. This was in Gander though, with the U.S. ambassador there. Chrétien honoured what happened after 9/11 while being honest about where our relationship stands today. I thought he handled it well.
@this_is_JF@Graham_Mark_E I hear you. I also urge you not go out of your way to contribute to the negative energy on this platform. It's makes it very easy to dismiss anything else you might contribute. Take care!
@this_is_JF@Graham_Mark_E He’s already made his position clear publicly, so can’t exactly walk back those comments now. It’s okay to give someone credit when they get something right without constantly looking for a reason to oppose them. I didn’t vote for him, but I can appreciate this interview.
@Rob_Oliphant@Spotify@SpotifyCanada I’m always discovering new Canadian artists on Spotify and finding out when they’re touring. Love being able to support homegrown talent. 🇨🇦 cc @eldsjal
