It’s incredibly frustrating to have a healthcare system offer HH #palliativecare and watch it be implemented so poorly. I know how great it can be, and somehow I am the one explaining to my Dad’s healthcare team that hospice and palliative care are different.
I’m looking for this article in relation to caretaking for my dad: Asymmetric rapidly progressive idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus: description of a case (Schito et al, 2021). It’s in journal of neuro. Can anyone help this unemployed & can’t access articles gal out? 💕
@prattas I'm in South Orange County in one of the "older suburbs." I'm living w/ my Dad in a house that my parents bought for ~$150k in 1986. Houses on the street are currently selling for $800-950k+.It's mind-blowing.
@thatemilyfarris @tjmaxx Oh my god. That was the signature perfume growing up. My older sister gave it to me for Christmas and I felt so cool. I can’t believe it’s still around.
@bikeshopgirlcom Not organizing city projects, but I’ve used Basecamp extensively to organize a research lab, home reno projects, and caregiving. It’s been pretty versatile. Happy to answer any questions 😊
@MaddyAndrewsMD The b&w made me hesitant to buy some books, but I realized for books w/ color images I can view it on the kindle app on my iPad/laptop
@MaddyAndrewsMD I was hesitant to get an e-reader because I love reading physical books - but space & convenience swayed me. I like my kindle paperwhite. I second the rec of getting books through your local library. I like that I can export/save my highlights before I return the book.
Rehab had a hard time because he doesn’t attend well/follow 1-2 step directions. He has motor processing delays and needs extra time. He’s made a lot of gains w/ me accounting for that. Open to any strategies, research articles, or southern CA provider recs #geri#geriatricrehab
I know I have a pretty small #geritwitter following but I need help! I need all the resources for doing rehab to regain ADLs for someone w/ mod-dementia hx who is recovering from a week+ coma after experiencing status epilepticus for the first time at 69 (continued)
He’s recovered skills for: walking, self-feeding, and some language (baseline exp lang was high). Top priorities: getting in / out of bed (indep or 1 person assist, currently 2-person assist), and on/off toilet. (CONT..)
