The funny thing is that Shelly's start was so consistently great that it made people think that Elaine's wasn't.
And Elaine's top end was so nasty, that it made people think Shelly's top end was mediocre.
Kirani James is really a legend man.

Sprint legend Veronica Campbell-Brown recounts being shocked at not making the 100m team at the Jamaican Olympic Trials in 2008 and having “one chance left” in the 200m. The icon is currently in Jamaica to lend her support to the JTA/Sagicor Athletics Champs, for which she’s an ambassador.

CONSISTENCY
Like so many, I’m sad that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be hanging up her spikes at the end of the season.
Her warm, bubbly personality and smile made us all fall in love with her, and she’s been a constant in our lives for so many years.
At the top level in sport, you’re lucky if you have one good year - Shelly has had almost 20 years. We’ve truly been blessed to witness such a outstanding career 🙌
And while track and field will never quite be the same without her, she’s left an everlasting legacy, and she’ll no doubt go on to even greater things.
Her career on the track might be coming to an end, but Shelly’s story is far from finished.
Tonight we celebrate the Honourable Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce a Jamaican icon, a woman who has dedicated herself wholeheartedly to representing and making Jamaica proud.
Jamaica is truly privileged to call you a daughter of the soil.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce 🇯🇲 has confirmed 2025 would be her last season as a professional athlete!🥺
She confirmed this at an exclusive celebration hosted by Nike to honour her.
"It's about the ways you have celebrated me, the ways you have shown up for me."
“In the next two days, it will be my final time gracing the National Stadium.”
🇯🇲’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the greatest female sprinter of all time, officially announced at a Nike event in her honour last night that she’ll be retiring at the end of the track season.
A legend of our sport, she’s paved the way for so many and has continued to defy the odds and show the world what’s possible through pregnancy and returning to run some of her quickest times in her mid-30s.
Her longevity, her fearlessness, her dedication to supporting the younger generation, and her overall ability to rise to occasion has made her one of the most loved and respected athletes in track and field.
I’m absolutely heartbroken that I’ll likely never get the opportunity to see this all-time great compete in person, but I’m forever grateful that I’ve been around during the same era to witness her career, one we’ll likely not see replicated any time soon.
I’m thankful for the opportunities my account has given me, and her recognising me and following me on Instagram last year was a personal highlight of mine.
Thank you, Shelly. Thank you for being you and showing the world that you can be anything, do anything and reach for the stars. Inspiration is a word that gets thrown around a lot, but you’re a true inspiration to me. You’ve inspired me, someone from across the world, to never give up on my dreams.
All the very best at your final National Championships this week. I’m sure the Jamaicans will give you an epic send-off as you look to qualify for your ninth and final World Championship team.
And finally to anyone who’s still reading this - don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened 🥹🫶🏽
