🌏Did you know the WHO #COP29#climatechange & #health report has a section dedicated to #housing?
@ANGLIhere@MGHToll & @rebecca_bentley's research, cited in the report, shows how critical housing is to protecting people from the health impacts of climate change.

#ICYMI...NEW REVIEW: A State-of-the-Science Review of the Effect of Damp- and Mould-Affected Housing on Mental Health ➡️ https://t.co/MYnXa8aWPE @unimelbMSPGH@ANGLIhere@rebecca_bentley
🌡️In #Australia, the #energy burden increases with extreme #heat, and single-parent or lone-person households, residents living in poor-quality houses, and colder regions are at greater #risk.

🏠 damage caused by climate-related disasters can have a significant impact on our #mentalhealth . With an El Niño weather event upon us, it's crucial our focus shifts to housing as a way to prevent poor health outcomes post-disaster.

@Pendragoness53 I just tried to DM you to get your email but Twitter didn’t let me. My email is [email protected] if you could flick over your contact details when you get a chance, it would be really great.
Excited that I have been awarded a DECRA fellowship. I will be looking at how housing and housing policy can be leveraged to improve social wellbeing and climate resilience. Looking to forward to collaborating with many talented people in this space!!
Congratulations to @Housing_CRE's @ANGLIhere on receiving a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award 2024. An incredible achievement! 🥳🎉🪩 @unimelbMSPGH @UniMelbMDHS
Many of us sought relief from the #COVID#Lockdowns by visiting local parks 🏞️and waterways🏖️. New research by @ANGLIhere, @Adelle_Mansour_ and @rebecca_bentley shows just how much these green and blue spaces buffered us against poor #mentalhealth. https://t.co/as8yWHUtVP
📢New study in @socscimed estimates total health gains and cost savings of eradicating 'cold housing' in Australia. Findings showed that eliminating 'cold housing' would lead to substantial health gains, reductions in health inequalities, savings in health expenditure, and productivity gains. By disease, 7.1% of the discounted lifetime health gains were due to reductions in cardiovascular diseases (CVD), 32.4% due to respiratory disease, and 60.6% due to mental illness. A massive thank you to @Housing_CRE@TonyBlakely_PI@rebecca_bentley@ANGLIhere@hrs_andrabi and TimWilson for amazing support and mentorship during my post-doctoral journey (2021-2022)🙏🙏❤️@unimelbMSPGH@_PHAA_@SydneySPH

Renters with nowhere to go. Home owners forced into mortgage stress.
If our homes are damaged by floods or fires, it damages our health for years afterwards.

Our study shows that physical and mental health, housing affordability, household income, and community participation are significant risk factors for the health impact and recovery post climate related disasters.
Happy to be a co-author on a new study looking at the short and long-term health effects of climate-related disasters in Australia.
