Panchkula, Haryana: Minister Anil Vij says, “HERC had decided to grant a licence to a private player. We opposed the decision before the regulator from day one. I want to clarify that the government had not invited any applications. However, the Central Electricity Act allows any entity to approach the regulator seeking permission to privatise operations in specific areas. Our electricity employees strongly opposed the decision, and we also made our stand clear from the beginning. #WATCH | हरियाणा बिजली संकट | पंचकूला | हरियाणा के ऊर्जा मंत्री अनिल विज ने कहा, हरियाणा में HERC ने एक निजी कंपनी को लाइसेंस देने का फैसला किया था हालांकि हमने पहले दिन से ही उसका डंटकर विरोध किया। मैं एक बात ये भी स्पष्ट करना चाहता हूं कि सरकार ने किसी से किसी प्रकार की एप्लीकेशन नहीं मांगी परंतु केंद्र सरकार का जो इलेक्ट्रिसिटी एक्ट है, उसमें प्रावधान है कि नियामक के आगे कोई भी इकाई दरखास्त दे सकती है कि हम किस-किस क्षेत्र में निजीकरण करना चाहते हैं। जिस दिन से ये फैसला आया, हमारे बिजली ��र्मचारियों ने इसका विरोध किया। हमने भी पहले दिन से उसका विरोध किया। मैंने विधानसभा में भी, अन्य राजनीतिक दलों को विस्तार से बता दिया था कि हम भी इसका विरोध कर रहे हैं। अगर आप हमारी बात से सहमत हैं तो आप भी HERC के सामने पार्टी बनकर विरोध दर्ज कर सकते हैं... आज हमने यूनियन के प्रमुख नेताओं से बात की थी। इस बात पर सहमति बनी थी कि सरकार इलेक्ट्रिसिटी एक्ट के सेक्शन 108 के तहत HERC को निर्देश दे सकती है कि अग��� नीतिगत विचलन है तो उसे रद्द किया जाए। इसे हमने स्वीकार किया। हमने पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर करके विभाग को सौंप दिया है कि तुरंत कार्रवाई करके इस फैसले को रुकवाया जाए... आज बहुत ही सौहार्दपूर्ण वातावरण में बातें हुई हैं। पहले भी इनकी कुछ मांगें थी, जिन पर मेरा विभाग काम कर रहा है लेकिन आज हमने उन मांगों पर चर्चा नहीं की है। उसके लिए 03 नवंबर को 3 बजे का समय दिया गया है..."

Panchkula, Haryana: On the Haryana power employees’ strike, State Power Minister Anil Vij says, "The issue has almost been resolved. I have spoken to the employees’ union leaders, and I have been telling them from the very first day that a strike is not the way forward. Come and discuss the matter across the table. If you suggest any other solution, we are willing to consider that as well. Yesterday, the union demanded that the government use Section 108 to revoke the order, which we can do. I have also spoken to the Chief Minister and tweeted this morning that we would use Section 108. The union leaders have agreed to attend a meeting at the Panchkula Rest House at 3 PM today. I am confident that the strike will end within a few hours. Section 108 of the Electricity Act provides that the State Commission shall be guided by the state government’s directions on matters of policy involving public interest, and the government’s direction on whether a matter involves public interest shall be final..."
