Arkansas Children’s athletic trainers recently came together for emergency response training to strengthen their readiness before the upcoming sports season.
The team reviewed emergency action plans for sudden cardiac arrest, cervical spine (C-spine) injuries and heat illness, then worked through school-specific response plans to ensure every campus is prepared.
"Nobody can prepare you for a two-week-old to go into surgery. But Dr. Greiten, I'm going to say he's one of the best doctors that I've ever dealt with," Hunter said. "He reassured us that everything's going to be okay."

What began as a routine 20-week ultrasound became a journey no first-time parent expects. After concerns were raised about their daughter Baylor’s heart, Taylor and Hunter Hutchinson of Oklahoma, were referred to Arkansas Children’s Heart Institute. https://t.co/pM1FtTIcSN
When Baylor was born, her diagnosis was confirmed, and at just 13 days old, she underwent life-saving open-heart surgery performed by pediatric congenital cardiac surgeon Lawrence E. Greiten, M.D., at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
