In Kansas City, Scouts represent looking ahead. In pavement management, TSDDs like ARRB Systems’ iPAVe are our modern scouts, detecting structural anomalies at traffic speed and helping identify potential failures before they happen.

We’ll be at the Fifth Symposium on Pavement Structural Evaluation with TSDDs in Kansas City.

Peter Schmalzer, Principal Engineer, will present “Detecting Discontinuities in Stiff Pavement Using Deflection Slope”, exploring how TSDD data can identify changes in pavement structural response and areas for further investigation.

Today, ARRB Systems is proud to celebrate a major team milestone: 30 years of excellence with Mike Henson.
He might not be retiring just yet, but three decades of engineering innovation is certainly worth marking on the blueprint...

𝟯𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.

Michael has made many contributions on the engineering side over the past 30 years. Over that time, he's shared his expertise, led and mentored colleagues and worked on a range of projects, particularly sensor and systems integration on vehicles. Some other projects have been quite unique, such as the development of a Weigh-In-Motion system that weighed A380 aircraft on a taxiway at Melbourne Airport.

Outside of work Michael enjoys spending time with his family, as well as engaging his passion, mixing live music for his church band.

Thanks, Michael for your dedication, leadership and the lasting impact you have made at ARRB Systems. Congratulations on this milestone!

The ARRB Systems team has touched down in Ljubljana, Slovenia for the International Conference on the Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields (BCRRA 2026).

Sunday set the tone nicely, with Klavs Olsen and Herman Visser presenting at the Traffic Speed Deflectometer Device (TSDD) Quality Control workshop, while Jerome Daleiden was front and centre at the Deflection at Road Traffic Speed DaRTS meeting.

When your mission is testing road conditions in the heart of the Amazon, the job becomes an adventure in itself! Despite stretching over 6,400km there are no bridges spanning the main body of the Amazon River.

Getting our iPAVe around the isolated road network in the northern part of Brazil presents a logistic puzzle, requiring careful planning by our excellent ARRB Systems Brazil team.

That includes hitching rides on river barges to cross a waterway that discharges 209,000 cubic metres of water per second!
