Led by H.E. Enrique Manalo, Chair of the @ASEAN Committee in NY, ASEAN engages in informal dialogue with @NATO ASG Boris Ruge and delegation at sidelines of NPT RevCon on evolving security environment and avenues for practical cooperation, including in support of the NPT process.
Delivered the @ASEAN statement at the General Debate of the NPT Review Conference. I reaffirmed ASEAN’s strong support for the NPT as the cornerstone of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and underscored the need for concrete, balanced progress, including full implementation of obligations and sustained efforts toward the total elimination of nuclear weapons. 🇵🇭🇺🇳

🇵🇭 I chaired the 3rd ASEAN Committee New York @asean_ny meeting, where we heard from the Co-Chairs of the Global Dialogue on AI Governance (El Salvador @EgriseldaL & Estonia @EstoniaUN) on preparations for the Dialogue, including upcoming consultations and opportunities for Member States to contribute to shaping inclusive and effective AI governance. 🇵🇭🇺🇳
A pleasure to meet the #ASEAN Permanent Representatives to the @UN in New York. I briefed them on the priorities and key deliverables of PH's #ASEAN2026 Chairship, provided updates on my work as Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on #Myanmar, and highlighted PH's bid as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. We had frank exchange of views on a number of political-security issues, including the Code of Conduct on the #SouthChinaSea, Myanmar, and the situation in the #MiddleEast. ASEAN continues to advocate for peace, stability and dialogue in Southeast Asia and beyond.
As Chair of the ASEAN Committee in New York @asean_ny, I convened ASEAN Permanent Representatives for a briefing by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma. Theresa Lazaro @SecLazaro on the Philippines’ priorities as ASEAN Chair and on her engagements as ASEAN Special Envoy on Myanmar.
