3/3 And don't let the popcorn lung thing scare you. There have been no confirmed cases of popcorn lung linked to e-cigarettes, or cigarettes. Only use legal e-cigarettes from a reputable retailer. https://t.co/pLViDpL0vn
1/3 PSA: MoH issued a recall on Suntree Vanilla (30ml)vape liquid for high diacetyl content. Follow recall advice, but if you smoked don't relapse! Vaping is not risk free, but is still way less harmful than tobacco. Including lower exposure to diacetyl. https://t.co/UAtBhSr8fu
2/3 Worst case scenario: Comparing a 10 a day smoker (10 puffs per cigarette) and a 300 puff a-day vaper using recalled diacetyl volumes, exposure for smokers is still 1400% higher (likely much more) And it's far from the worst thing you inhale in cigarettes and not in vapes.
A year after publication, @NZStuff apologised today for misleading stories they published about ASH. Stuff have also made a generous donation to ASH. This will support our independent advocacy to end deaths from smoking. https://t.co/PQgGud0NLv
“The broadcast created a misleading, unbalanced and unfairly negative impression of the complainant, by favouring particular (critical) perspectives, while failing to adequately present ASH’s position in response. This undermined the public interest in the story"
We understand vaping, smoking and young people are emotive issues. We all want the same outcome, but we hope this ruling published by @BSA_NZ helps set a standard for fair and balanced reporting, and holding all sides to account.
Our complaint about fair reporting saw five breaches of fairness, accuracy and balance standards by @NZStuff reporting on ASH last year. Described as “at the higher end of the spectrum of seriousness” & “falling well short of journalistic expectations”
As smoking rates have plummeted, and are concentrated in our least wealthy communities Skycity Casino wants a larger deck to keep them smoking while playing pokies. https://t.co/0zThc1dw1t
Action is needed to encourage dual users to fully switch to vaping. The Government should maintain investment in the swap-to-stop scheme for vapes and counter these misperceptions through targeted communications.

If smokers (who had no plans to quit) continue to use an #ecig with cigarette-like nicotine delivery, a greater proportion completely switch to nicotine ecigs, as compared with placebo or a cigarette substitute. https://t.co/I3ChoLeBjg
