Couldn't disagree more with this take, as someone who has lived in DC since 2013 and barely remembers a pre-Bowser political era, I have never seen more mailers for interesting and competitive races in the city than this year.
NEW: Trump says that there is planned construction to connect the Lincoln Memorial to the Potomac River, which is currently cut off from the water by Rockcreek Parkway.
It will be called the Promenade, or perhaps the Trump Promenade, the President says.
Looks like I need to post this again. For some reason current stats or context is not being reported. Pls read my full tweet thread to understand the facts about Metro’s financials.

It looks like the 15th Street protected bike lane from the National Mall to the Jefferson Memorial isn’t go anywhere for at least a month, so it will remain in place for the rest of peak cherry blossom season.
14 months after @DDOTDC said they’d fill in the sorely needed bike lane gap on 15th and H, they have officially abandoned plans for this. Instead they’ll change the travel lane into parking spots and a 4 parking spot valet zone for The. Fucking. Ned (maybe Joe’s too?)
It's amazing that we wouldn't know about any of this if it wasn't for @BarredinDC chasing down the rumors this week and reporters like @maustermuhle seeking comment from Trump officials on Thursday night. Looks like no one would have told us about Monday.
Reporting for the win!
"No human who has been alive during cherry blossom season ever thinks, ‘What we need is more room for cars to get around.’ It is cyclists and pedestrians that take over, and this is going to make the chaos infinitely worse.” —Elizabeth Kiker of @WABADC https://t.co/dnXt4QBx2V

The Trump administration is removing a protected bike lane that runs along 15th Street from the National Mall to the Tidal Basin. Officials say it causes traffic; bike advocates say it actually makes everyone safer. https://t.co/tse9cVEzAg
Dismayed that the head of the @WashingtonPost comms team would post so disparagingly about our laid-off colleagues. There is so much solidarity and respect among and between those who remained and those who were cut. This is the opposite.
Because of the 15th St bike lane, you can ride from Meridian Hill Park to the White House, from the Washington Monument to the Tidal Basin and all the way to Mount Vernon. It’s simply the best urban bike facility in the country and removing any part of it is a travesty
