@scotteabbott History and science. Thematic units that showed how the subjects were related. Now is dinosaurs with arctic, and Mayans. No relationships being modeled. Math is done after lunch.
@scotteabbott My k-6 spanned the mid 70’s to early 80’s. We learned about arctic climate, flora/fauna, natives of the area. We read stories about these, did art projects from the cultures we were learning about, did science and the math story problems had characters and items from culture,
@notheydontcare No, facts. It happens every year. Some really don’t need the standardized test for their future so they don’t even try. Without a penalty for doing the minimum, many will take the zero.

@jenteach13 These programs were cut due to funding. The materials are expensive. Same reason why science standards were changed …specimens, lab chemicals, and lab digital equipment is expensive, too. All the fun stuff has disappeared due to funding.
@educator4ever36@julianblacks_ As A teacher, I get an email every time I allow restroom use in the 10/10. After five, we get written up. Yes, emergencies happen…and should be daily for the same students.

@educator4ever36@PhillyCSteak1@marcportermagee The AZ Legislature decided the course wasn’t as rigorous as Algebra 2 so they pulled it from course offerings. So students now get 5 weeks of conceptual consumer math - no real math (calculations or spreadsheets) to earn a Seal of Financial Literacy for their transcript.
