This actually commands courage and manhood.

In first-century Judea, a slap on the right cheek meant a backhanded insult, a gesture of humiliation.

By turning the other cheek, Christ taught His disciples not to respond with vengeance, but to refuse humiliation and retain dignity.

Christ did not preach surrender to insult, he told us to be viril, masculine and end the cycle of hatred by being the bigger man.
