I join family, friends and well-wishers across Nigeria to celebrate our First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, @SenRemiTinubu on the joyous occasion of her 66th birthday.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu is a remarkable example of dedication to public service and nation building. I recall with fondness the partnership we enjoyed during our days in the Nigeria Senate, where she distinguished herself through legislation and advocacy for women, young people and inclusive governance.

Today, as the First Lady of Nigeria, she has continued to demonstrate a spirit of inclusiveness, galvanising Nigerians across political divides towards the shared goal of a better and more prosperous nation. She is truly an inclusive nation builder and a mother to all.

I honour her life of service and contributions to our dear country, and I pray Almighty God to bless her with many more years in good health, wisdom and fulfilment as she continues to support our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the service of Nigeria.

Yesterday, we convened a State Security Council meeting headed by the deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, to review recent security alerts and strengthen our collective response to emerging threats across Osun State.

As part of the measures agreed at the meeting, we have approved the establishment of a Joint Security Task Force (JTF) to enhance coordination, intelligence sharing and rapid response among our security agencies. Our administration will provide the necessary logistics and support to ensure the effective take-off and operation of the task force.

We have also directed that our security agencies remain on 24-hour alert, while calling on residents to remain vigilant, particularly around churches, mosques, schools and other public places. I urge everyone to promptly share credible intelligence with the security agencies. Security is a collective responsibility, and timely information can save lives.

Let me reassure the people of Osun that the state remains safe and secure. We will continue to empower our security agencies and work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders and all stakeholders to protect lives and property across the state.

I commend our security commanders for their dedication and, particularly, the new Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, for his proactive approach to policing and security in Osun.

Together, we will keep Osun safe.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has congratulated former Commissioner for Finance, Economic Planning and Budget, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, on the occasion of his 60th birthday,calling him “an administrative and financial genius”

Governor Adeleke described Dr. Bolorunduro as a distinguished technocrat and financial expert whose professional contributions have continued to impact Osun State and the wider society, from the private to the public sector.

The Governor commended his commitment to public service, his excellent track records and his unwavering commitment to professionalism, noting that his expertise and experience in finance and economic management are of great help in the ongoing economic transformation of our state.

While praising God for his mercies on the birthday ex-banker, the governor praised Bolorunduro's technical support for his administration in the last four years and described the former state official as ‘a rare asset in state governance.

“We value your contributions especially in difficult state matters. Your expertise is a blessing for my administration as we implement far reaching reforms to take our state to greater heights.

“Dr. Wale Bolorunduro is a distinguished son of Osun whose professional accomplishments and contributions to our state deserve recognition. I celebrate this milestone and wish him many more years,” Governor Adeleke said.

Today, I inaugurated the reconstituted Governing Council of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), in a renewed commitment to strengthening the institution’s governance and advancing its position among the leading state universities in Nigeria.

I am particularly pleased with the progress recorded by UNIOSUN under its Management and Governing Council. The landmark projects and achievements of the University demonstrate what is possible when there is stability, commitment and a shared vision for excellence.

Professor Adewale Abiodun Oladipo has been retained as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, providing the needed continuity and experience. I charged him and all members of the reconstituted Council to work harmoniously with the University Management, guided by the law, mutual respect and the common objective of taking UNIOSUN to greater heights.

As a Government, we will continue to support initiatives that strengthen the University’s academic standing, research capacity, innovation ecosystem and overall development.

UNIOSUN is more than a university; it is one of the enduring investments of the people of Osun State and a source of pride for us all. I am confident that this new Council will build on the gains recorded and position the institution for greater excellence and global recognition.

May Osun State University continue to grow from strength to strength and produce graduates who will transform our society.

Yesterday, I joined family, friends and well-wishers to attend the final burial ceremony of Late Chief Mrs. Dame Olayinka Obaleye (Yinka Oba Foams) in Ilesa. I pray that God grants her eternal rest and gives her loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

I also visited the Palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, where I expressed my appreciation to the entire people of Ijesaland for their support and votes during the last election. I reaffirmed my commitment to the continued growth and development of Ijesaland and the entire Osun State.

𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗸𝗶𝗿𝗲

I have issued an Executive Order establishing a Coroner Inquest/Panel of Inquiry into the killings, shootings, injuries and violence reported at Naira and Kobo Junction, Motor Park/Garage Area, Ikire, on August 24, 2026.

The panel is chaired by Magistrate Ayokunle Shiyanbola, with Mr. Abiodun Badiora as Secretary. Other members are AIG (Dr.) Aderanti C. Kayode, mni (Rtd.), Mr. Dele Akintayo, a representative of the Nigerian Bar Association, Comrade Wale Balogun representing Civil Society Organisations, a community representative from Ikire, and Dr. Babatunde Afolabi as Medical/Forensic Representative.

The panel has a clear mandate to establish the circumstances and causes of the incident, examine the roles of security operatives and other actors, identify anyone whose actions or omissions may have contributed to the violence, and recommend prosecution, disciplinary measures, compensation and institutional reforms where necessary.

I assure the people of Ikire, the families of the deceased, the injured and the entire people of Osun State that no person found culpable will be shielded from justice, irrespective of status, office, political connection or institutional affiliation.

We owe the victims and their families the truth. We owe our people justice. And we owe the people of Ikire a peaceful and secure community.

𝗢𝘀𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝘁 35: 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿

Yesterday, as we celebrated the 35th anniversary of the creation of our dear Osun State, I reached out to some of my predecessors across the state to congratulate them and, more importantly, to discuss the urgent need for peace, reconciliation and unity.

I spoke with former Governors Chief Bisi Akande, Senator Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. I also reached out by phone to former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get them on the phone. My message was simple: there is no victor, no vanquished. The election is over; it is now time to heal, reconcile and unite our people.

I remain conscious of the charge by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to champion peacebuilding and state reconciliation. I will therefore continue to reach out to all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation. Osun belongs to all of us, and we must create an environment where our people can enjoy the dividends of democracy and benefit from continuous development.

This is a sacred responsibility I am passionately committed to. I will not stop in my peace and reconciliation drive. Together, we will heal Osun, unite our people and build a greater state.

I celebrate you for all you do, a compassionate mother, a woman of service, and a partner whose strength, prayers and unwavering support have been invaluable to me and our family.

I am grateful to Almighty God for the gift of your life and for the many lives you continue to touch through your humanitarian work with the Esther Adeleke Humanitarian Foundation, as well as your commitment to women, the vulnerable and community development.

We will build on our achievements on state infrastructure, digital economy, sports development, agricultural mechanisation, education and healthcare expansion. The youth, women and students will continue to receive special attention. We will expand industrialisation within the scope of workers' welfare. Our state will witness particular attention to rural integrated development alongside a renewed focus on ease of doing business. We will focus more on creating wealth and deepening anti- poverty initiatives.

We will continue to implement our renewed five point agenda within the compass of due process, procurement regulations and project implementation best practices. We will further refine the adoption of the local content model while expanding financial inclusion through cooperative sector financing.

As we celebrate the anniversary of the creation of our dear state, I urge all residents to be law abiding and avoid violence. We must not engage in reprisal attacks. Our administration is setting up a Commission of Inquiry on election violence. The body will take memorandum from all victims and residents who are affected by recent electoral violence. This initiative is to identify the causes and remedies and proffer ways to stop such recurrence in the future.

Our administration has also set up an election victim compensation fund headed by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun. This initiative is to cushion the effect of the recent needless violence.

On this anniversary day, we have a lot to be proud of despite our challenges. I seek your continued cooperation to further deliver good governance. I will work harder never to disappoint you, the great people of Osun state.

STATE BROADCAST ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATION OF OSUN STATE

My good people of Osun state

It is with deep sense of gratitude and appreciation that I address you on this occasion of the 35th anniversary of the creation of our dear state. When I look back and review the past and recent developments, I cannot but applaud the commitment and unrivalled passion of our people for the growth and development of Osun state.

I recognise the pains and sacrifices of our people in the last few months. We all recognise the unfortunate disruptions in our lives due to the recent governorship election. In many fora, I empathize with many families who lost loved ones. Your sacrifices and those of many who were injured will not go in vain.

My people, you demonstrated tenacious belief in democracy and the rule of law. For over two years now, you complied with my admonition not to take laws into your own hands. Even in the face of the worst form of provocations, you endured the gruesome unleashing of violence without fighting back.

On the day of election, you trooped out en masse to exercise your voting rights. You did so with candour and fearlessness. Amidst reign of terror, you rejected the guns and embraced the ballot. As true sons and daughters of the source, you not only voted but you defended your votes even at personal risk to your lives. Again, I doff my cap for your courage and patriotism.

Of all developments in the last 35 years of the creation of our dear state, this last state election stands out as the toughest test of who we are as a people. By your conduct and the outcome of the polls, Osun people demonstrated to the world that we are indeed the cradle of the Yoruba race, that we are people of valour and integrity. Nationally, my people have emerged as a shining light for democratic practice.

Our founding fathers must be proud of the accomplishments of the state especially at this point in time. By standing for democracy through pains and hardship, our people paid glowing tributes to the founding fathers of Osun state, alive and in eternal transition. Our recent experience as a state is not only a defence of democracy but of good governance and rule of law.

My people, as you have again conferred the leadership mandate on me under recent difficult circumstances, I promise to heal the wounds, unite the people and uphold equity and fairness. Our administration will be all inclusive and attentive to criticisms in our bid to strengthen state development.
