💢 “The sound… how can I describe it? Like an earthquake.”

Talal Harazin was just three meters from a six-story Israeli-damaged building in western Gaza City when it collapsed at around 3 a.m. He told Drop Site’s Abdel Qader Sabbah that the entire building fell forward and was reduced to rubble in less than 10 seconds.

Ten displaced families from Shujaiya and Zeitoun were sheltering inside, Harazin said, most of them women and children. At least 21 Palestinians, including 12 children and five women, were killed and 14 others injured in the collapse.

“Those were terrifying moments. Very, very scary,” he said. “Suddenly, the building collapsed and people began screaming.”

Harazin said he was the first person to climb onto the collapsed building and began searching for survivors. He found a girl near the top of the rubble and pulled her out alive.

“It was an incredibly difficult feeling. Children, children martyred. Women sleeping peacefully, and suddenly the building collapsed on top of them.”

💢 BREAKING: Israeli strike on car kills two, wounds 13 in Gaza City

An Israeli strike targeted a vehicle in Gaza City’s Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, killing two Palestinians and wounding 13, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Footage from Drop Site contributor Abdel Qader Sabbah shows the blood-covered wreckage of the car as people carry the bodies toward an ambulance.

Holding up household items from the car, witness Abdul Fattah Junaid asked: “Are these rockets? Are these guns? It was just a civilian car passing by.”

“By God, we walk around afraid. I swear the war isn’t over. The war is escalating. Every hour there are martyrs,” he said.

On Saturday, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that 10 Palestinians had been killed and 56 wounded over the previous 48 hours. Since the so-called ceasefire, Israeli attacks have killed 1,369 Palestinians and wounded 4,627, according to the ministry.

“Where is the war that supposedly stopped? … Wherever we go, there are strikes.”

🚨🎥 “We could hear the cries and screams of the wounded from beneath the rubble. Some were still alive. But because we lacked equipment, we could not reach them.”

At the mass funeral for 112 members of the Al-Hasayna and Abu Sharia families, Fares Affana, director of ambulance and emergency services for Civil Defense in northern Gaza, told Drop Site that Israeli attacks had systematically destroyed Gaza’s rescue system, leaving crews unable to save people trapped beneath collapsed homes throughout nearly three years of genocidal war.

Civil Defense crews spent 17 days searching the ruins of a flattened residential block in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood, recovering skeletal remains from beneath the crushed concrete in an intensive operation that concluded this past weekend.

“They remained trapped for days until they were killed,” Affana told Drop Site contributor Abdel Qader Sabbah.

The massacre was not an isolated crime, but one of hundreds carried out against Palestinian families, many of which have been erased entirely from the civil registry, he added.

Affana said that despite the destruction of ambulances and rescue vehicles, crews continue working “with almost nothing.” But, the system could be forced to stop operating at any moment, he told Drop Site.

⚡️ NEW: Drop Site spoke with officials and community leaders in Gaza after Hamas dissolved its Government Emergency Committee today to clear the way for the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) to take over.

🔸Sami al-Khalidi, mukhtar of the al-Khalidi family, urged the incoming body to move fast, saying Palestinians have “neither security nor safety” and need a government “as soon as possible.” He pointed to soaring prices, mass unemployment, and a crippling electricity crisis, saying the suffering “has become an essential part of our lives.”

🔸Dr. Saif al-Din Abu Ramadan, head of the Association of Palestinian Mukhtars, said the clans and tribes are “ready to cooperate with this committee with all the strength we possess,” calling the handover “the first step.”

Asked what would happen if Israel tried to obstruct the transition, he said the burden falls on the mediators, calling for “international and global pressure on the occupation to abide by what it signed,” to withdraw its forces, stop the genocide and starvation, open the crossings, and let the NCAG in.

🇵🇸 “The whole world should be talking about Dr. Hussam’s case, standing with him and demanding his immediate release,” his sister, Samahir Abu Safiyah, tells Drop Site News.

Drop Site contributor Abdel Qader Sabbah spoke with Samahir in Gaza after the pediatrician and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyah, appeared in an Israeli court on Wednesday after more than 500 days in detention without charge.

“When I saw the picture, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that this was my brother,” she said.

“He used to be handsome, well-built, and healthy. How did he become like this, and for what? What charge did they accuse him of? Because he is a pediatrician?”

Appearing before the Israeli High Court this week, Dr. Abu Safiyah described his imprisonment as “unjust and arbitrary.” Footage from the hearing showed him looking noticeably thinner. Samahir said lawyers told the family he has lost roughly half his body weight, suffers from deteriorating eyesight, contracted scabies while in detention, and remains held in solitary confinement in Nafha Prison. He was brought before the court in handcuffs and shackles.

“The picture showed us the torture he was subjected to,” she said, pointing to bruises visible on his hands and a face that “looks much older than his age.”

She questioned why her brother remains imprisoned after being seized from Kamal Adwan Hospital, where he continued treating patients even after Israeli forces killed his son in 2024.

“He buried him in the hospital courtyard… and then he went back to work,” she said. “He refused to leave the wounded. He refused to leave the children.”

Samahir said Dr. Hussam appears to know little about what has happened in Gaza during his detention. “If he knew anything about Gaza, he wouldn’t have sent a message through his lawyer asking Anas Al-Sharif to talk about the suffering of the people of Gaza,” she said, referring to the famous Al Jazeera journalist Israel assassinated in 2025.

“He has committed no crime,” Samahir said. “His only crime was staying in the hospital for the sake of the children, the injured, and the wounded. The whole world must stand with him.”

🇵🇸 🏃‍♂️ After a three-year pause due to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Palestinians gathered along Gaza’s Al-Rashid Street — the main coastal road running north to south along the Mediterranean Sea — for the Palestine Marathon on Thursday.

Held simultaneously in Gaza and the West Bank, the event drew more than 2,500 runners in Gaza alone, including amputees and some 350 children.

Dina Ismail of Gaza’s Ministry of Women’s Affairs told Drop Site that one of the marathon’s main goals was to highlight Israeli restrictions on Palestinian freedom of movement across the occupied territories and call on the international community to uphold Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees the right to freedom of movement.

⚡️ NEW | Protests in the West Bank and Gaza against death penalty law

Protests took place Wednesday in Ramallah, the occupied West Bank, where Palestinian demonstrators marched through the city rejecting Israel’s newly approved death penalty law targeting Palestinian prisoners, with calls for international intervention and a general strike declared across the northern West Bank, reported WAFA.

The law has drawn widespread international condemnation, with UN High Commissioner Volker Türk calling it “deeply discriminatory” and a violation of international law, while a spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General said it is “particularly cruel and discriminatory,” calling on Israel to rescind it.

A protest was also held outside the Red Cross headquarters in Gaza, with families of Palestinian prisoners present. Footage captured by Drop Site contributor Abdel Qader Sabbah showed demonstrators holding up posters of prominent Palestinian prisoners including Marwan Barghouti, known as “Palestine’s Mandela,” Abdullah Barghouti, a Palestinian resistance commander serving 67 life terms, and Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, head of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza and held without charge for more than a year.

Another man held a sign that read “Fascist law and absent justice.”
