@PhDVoice There is some cases a raw abuse of power. I’ve come across a case recently where it feels like the student was set up to fail. I can’t reveal details but the lab wasn’t prepared for the study and didn’t want to. Now student is stuck

The best defence you can have is to take notes of all the work you are doing, document everything, especially if he asks you to work on side projects. This way you can come back with
