The academic parent gut punch when filling out emergency contact info
Your little line doesn't leave me enough room to write: "actually, no we don't have an additional emergency contact bc I 'went where the job was' thank you very much I will go cry & dwell on my mortality now"
Genuinely bitter that people are insisting on doing things in person-only again. Was really hoping the accessibility of virtual events would be embraced as a part of this new pandemicine normal, but...

Incredibly useful conversations for the last 2 days at #LevelUpEd conf.
Thank you to all who joined & presented! And to @EricRoyalLybeck for pulling us all together!
At the @EducationUoM Levelling Up conference @EricRoyalLybeck says a huge part of the civic agenda, including levelling up, needs to be academics relearning how to communicate with people who are not academics. Professional language can be a form of exclusion. @AcademicCollege
Perfect venue for Day 2 of @EricRoyalLybeck’s #LevellingUp conference, with @DrewWhitworth1 about to address a lecture theatre so traditional that even the graffiti is elegant.
So, this is interesting. Just as ministers go on about sitting in lectures and that exams are best - discussion that #LevellingUp may be best served by innovation in pedagogy and assessment.
Watch our short film on #LevellingUp in Oldham screened yesterday on Day 1 of our conference - featuring @DrCldForbes and @AndyWWestwood

At the Levelling Up conference @RichardALJones notes the huge geographic differences in UK productivity. The eastern parts of Germany have performed better since reunification than provincial UK has recovered from deindustrialisation of the 1980s @EducationUoM@AcademicCollege
