Stumps, holes, rotting roots, dead limbs on a living tree and fallen trees are all forms of deadwood and each support a different community of fungi and invertebrates!
Fishlake and Sykehouse are home to a wonderful collection of ancient willow trees. These trees connect us to our history, heritage and culture. They contribute to the areaโs distinctive character and are a fantastic wildlife habitat.

Please say no to pesticides and herbicides. Cocktails of these chemicals in fields, gardens, parks, verges and community spaces are poisoning wildlife including bees, birds, hedgehogs, butterflies, beetles, frogs, damselflies. They pollute our rivers. Let's give nature a chance.

Long live the ancient white willows!!
