Financing adaptation & resilience for vulnerable communities in developing countries. We've committed over US$ 1.6 billion to climate adaptation since 2010.
See how a nearly US$ 14 million regional AF-funded #adaptation grant project in #Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire carried out by @UNHABITAT is improving resilience among climate-vulnerable coastal communities. ⬇️

A successful week in Morocco comes to an end. 34 National Implementing Entities gathered to exchange knowledge, share lessons and strengthen climate adaptation efforts. AF Manager Mikko Ollikainen and ADA Morocco's Secretary General met and spoke with NIEs throughout the week.
The AF's annual national implementing entity seminar is featured in Morocco this year, where an AF project carried out by ADA-Morocco helped vulnerable oasis communities build resilience to drought by revitalizing ancient khettara underground water canals: https://t.co/pLx22Ysf1y
The Fund's flagship readiness seminar has gathered representatives from 34 of its accredited NIE partners from across the globe to share lessons and successes aimed at enhancing access to adaptation finance & actions on the ground while further building capacities to adapt.
What can countries learn from recently approved adaptation projects?
At the Adaptation Fund's National Implementing Entity Seminar in Morocco, NIEs from Kenya, Mexico, Armenia and Costa Rica shared practical lessons from proposal development, revisions, feedback and approval.

💧Community-led adaptation in action in the Solomon Islands.
From water tanks and plans to protect spring water sources in Wind Valley to a community-built water system in Aekafo-Feraladoa, local communities r strengthening water security & building resilience to climate change.
In Honiara, women leaders, youth, and local partners shared how communities are building resilience to flooding, water insecurity, and climate change.
In the Pacific, resilience starts with listening to communities and turning local priorities into action.
🌱 In Ontong Java settlement, community gardens and rainwater harvesting systems are helping improve nutrition, livelihoods, and water security.
Supported by the AF through @UNHABITAT, these locally driven solutions are building resilience in Solomon Islands.
🌊 In Fiji, communities are leading practical solutions to flood risks. Elevated footpaths, improved drainage and expanded evacuation facilities are helping people stay safe and connected as climate impacts intensify. Supported by the Adaptation Fund and implemented by @UNHABITAT
In #Fiji, local communities are leading climate adaptation efforts. During our visit to Lami and Sigatoka, we saw how the Adaptation Fund-supported FRIS project, implemented by @UNHABITAT with the Government of Fiji, is strengthening resilience through community-driven solutions.
From climate-smart farming to new livelihood opportunities, the Ntšinyi family is adapting to a changing climate in #Lesotho. Their story is part of the Adaptation Fund-funded IACoV project, which has reached more than 1.4 million people. 🌱

The new @UNEP report highlights growing climate risks and the need to design adaptation investments for stronger impacts than previously projected.
With 225+ projects benefiting 120M+ people and a US$40M country cap, AF is well-positioned to help countries scale adaptation.
Global warming is set to cross 1.5°C, pushing climate risks and impacts to increasingly dangerous heights, a new UNEP report warns.
Predicted impacts include extreme weather and threats to human health and economies.
Action now can still limit the magnitude and duration of the peak and preserve the possibility of returning to or below 1.5°C through an ‘overshoot, peak, and decline’ pathway
