Adelaide International Women's Day Breakfast Committee organising Australia's biggest IWD event & the largest Annual Women's Event in Adelaide. RT ≠ Endorsement
As we mark International Women’s Day, I’m joining forces with some of my fellow Foreign Ministers to share why we are working towards gender equality and upholding women’s rights.
Why are you fighting for women’s rights?
#StrongWomenStrongSocieties
Adelaide’s International Women’s Day breakfast had a record 3,076 people attending in person this year, including students from 33 schools.
We celebrate women’s success, honour those who have shown us the way, and acknowledge struggles that must still be overcome.
Representation matters. 🏛️
Yet, only 26.5% of members of parliament are women globally.
It's time to work towards gender parity! 🙋♀️

Pursuing gender equality isn't just right, it's a vital national interest.
When women and girls are empowered, and barriers are removed, economies grow faster.
Thank you to @SallySitou and an impressive group of community leaders for an important discussion on gender equality.
We can’t move forward as a country while more than half of us are being held back.
Last week I launched a national survey so that all Australians can help shape our country’s first National Strategy for Gender Equality.

This is my 22nd year hosting the Adelaide event, which raises money for @UNWomenAust.
Funds raised will go to assisting UN Women Australia’s projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
This year is our biggest event yet.
Celebrating #IWD2023 at the Adelaide breakfast with nearly 2,800 people, including this year’s guest speaker US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy.
Thank you Ambassador for your insightful and inspiring words.
As we mark International Women’s Day, we also commemorate 50 years since a woman was first appointed to lead an Australian government agency.
And we celebrate the 90th birthday of that woman: @MarieColemanAO.
We are ready to go for the Adelaide #IWD2023 Breakfast with Ambassador Caroline Kennedy and @SenatorWong.

“When a woman stands up to tell her story, there are groups of folks who hear a man’s life being ruined & there are other groups of folks who hear a woman’s life being saved. And that is fundamentally part of the problem.” - @TaranaBurke#CrackingTheCode#IWD2023
